How about a separate Venezuela forum?

For some strange reason, there are a lot of Venzuela threads.

IMO, mostly anti-Chavez type posts. I don't really give a shit. There are a lot of problems in this country before we go fix the rest of the world.

You'd want to call it the Hugo Chavez forum though. It seems he's the locus on liberal forums, like Fidel is in Cuba. Who cares about the chronically impoverished from those countries. I'll always believe there is in some a deep-seated sentiment against anything that is connected with the real work of socialism and it is instilled by early in life exposure to anti-communist propaganda.

It's nice that Venezuela is making progress towards social equality. That's not why I read DU, to read debates about politics in South America. I like to follow international news, but this is Democratic Underground, not Venezuela Underground.

I am generally interested in American affairs.

There is not a continuous flood of Sheehan threads, just lately.

I propose that Venezuela should be a separate country that kinda does its own thing while US folks do theirs. So long as neither invades anywhere else & kills thousands of people a month, maybe both should just be left in peace.

Since the Hugo-ists post in GD, where I see the threads, I canNOT stand to see the personality cultism and feel compelled to deflate it insofar as I can. If there would be a separate forum, I wouldn't ever see the threads. For now they are here and at LBN. Many of us can say we have been flamed in GD and in the Lounge, but hardly any except me can add that I have been flamed in LBN!!1
