OK...Imagine yourself as the next President of the United States |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-01-07 07:49 PM by BlueCollar
Who would you select as your cabinet and why?
Just asking to see what y'all think and why...
You don't need to name the whole cabinet...
For SecDef...I offer Wesley Clark...not because I have a thing for Clark...just think he makes sense
For Education...I like Richardson from NM...seems like the pragmatic type who can do it right...
Attorney General...John Edwards...experienced attorney that shares my views on social justice...
Just some initial thoughts to get this started
Pleaser don't turn this in to a flamefest....
edit: spelling

1. Clark can't be SecDef. You have to be out of the military at least 10 years. |
|
Anyhow, he ought to be President; if not, Secretary of State.

Ok.
I'd fire them all... all of them, and hold a constitutional convention my presidency is based on the dialog of redefining citizenship and the state as something we can all agree to today; and not that i am enslaved to some dead white slaver's documentary skills that has enslaved better persons to criminal war crimes.
Its time for a constitution, and if not, then states can make their own.

Oh, and one other thing I would eliminate and direct the funds elsewhere, The fucking drug war! All drug war prisoners on the state and federal level would be released immediately...

Is Dennis's idea to replace Sec. of Defense, or at least offset it. If I were President I'd create the new department--and the Congress would approve it wholeheartedly. And The Youngblood's "Everybody Get Together" would become our new national anthem. There'd be an inipi (sweatlodge) on the White House grounds, and Dances of Universal Peace once a week. Hey, it's MY fantasy! :)

some of your nominees make sense to me up front based on their records...
Can you elaborate as far as why you like these individuals?
For example...Transportation Sec... Why do you like this guy? What ...in your philosophy makes this guy tick the right way for you?
Education...Shirley Franklin...She obviously made an impression on you...Why?

city I think he would have had considerable experience with transportation questions which is why I thought of him. As for Mayor Franklin, she is just a very competent and successful Mayor of Atlanta. She has considerable experience as the ex-city manager of Atlanta and then as Mayor since 2001 and brought the Olympics to the city. She made improving inner city schools a priority (along with fixing the pothole problem which had plagued Atlanta) and ethics. I think she would be a strong addition to any team.

25. Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) as Secretary of Transportation |
|
Then we'll get our rail system.
Also, Cynthia McKinney as Secretary of Commerce. She was so good at going after the international financial pirates.
Amory Lovins as Secretary of Energy.
I'm not sure who I'd get as Secretary of Education, but it would be someone with teaching experience who believed in education, and I mean really believed in education, not in test scores, not in job training, not in getting into a good college, not in creating a holding tank for the under-18 crowd, but in raising up young people who are culturally, politlcally, and economically aware and become life-long learners.
For Secretary of Defense, I'd find one of those guys from the Center for Defense Information, the retired officers who know where the skeletons are and aren't afraid to reveal what they know. Surely some of them have been retired for more than ten years. They'd have the cred to cut the Pentagon budget, something everyone else is too chicken to do.
