Watching Edwards on MTP - I know I am getting super-cynical, but...
Russert: gotcha text, smarmy questions, media spin, cornering questions, advocate for the right-type subterfuge.....(just verbal vomit from one who let Cheney, Rice, Powell and others utterly off the hook).
Edwards: Blah, blah, blah, backtrack, cover, respond from the heart - but...cover, excuse, backtrack, blah, blah, blah....rinse and repeat.

Is anyone else here with me that, with precious few exceptions, the politicians and the media are turning into those late-night informercial snake oil spots that are cured only by the mute button. The Bush years have soured me on these talking heads - with the rare exception of Feingold, (and occasional flashes of honesty from a few others - Edwards, Obama, etc) - you can throw all of 'em in a room, scramble the words and it is all pretty much a waste of time.

Wanted - politicians with integrity and spine, true politicans who understand what the majority of the public needs...not just covering their asses, making money, protecting their positions...what can possibly happen to allow the country to return to the people (and I don't mean the 30% of the whack jobs that are too far gone...the chimp supporters)???

1. I thought many of the speeches friday at the DNC were so interchangable
A few of them stood out with difference but, many were very interchangable.
Russert threw alot of soft balls to Edwards which was a pity for Edwards and the voters.
Edwards needs to be challenged to see how his new image stands up before the primaries get going.
The voters need to know him and see what he is like before they decide so any possible let downs would be avoided.
We need our press to ask real questions and test the candidates.

7. SOFTBALLS TO EDWARDS???? Whaaaa!!!! Russert GRILLED him. Didn't even take a
commercial break for a full half hour.

Edwards stood up beautifully. He was passionate, honest, and winning.

3. I thought Edwards was fine. I just wish there could have been tougher for
edwards and voters sake. No clip on edwards.

4. Have you checked out Dennis Kucinich's web site? He's pretty straight forward.

5. Russert is just pretending to be a journalist.
Russert to any Democrat: "Don't you think you are being hypocritical for blah blah blah..."

Russert to Bushler: "So, how's Barney?"

6. You may be 'super cynical', but that's barely cynical enough these days.
I agree that these media presentations are easily AT LEAST
as horrid as you think they are.

And probably WORSE. We must bear in mind that we have been
subjected to them for so long, that we are probably NUMB to
them to some extent.

Things that appear "fair and balanced" even to us "crazy USA liberals"
would make MODERATE citizens of other 'advanced nations' CRINGE.

It's so damn bad, we can no longer rely on our own judgement to assess
just how bad it is.

8. I am with you. Edwards gave non-answers to most of the questions
and very rehersed ones to others. Snake oil describes it well.

9. I was stunned by Edwards' declaration of his loyalty to corporatism.
I had hoped for better, but it seems his AIPAC sponsored trip and "realpolitik" money strategy have turned him into a tool of multinational imperialism. He says he has a better way to turn Iraq into a puppet state. He says he can implement the PNAC agenda better than Chimpy. He is appealing to the "powers that be" for support, while offering a few carrots (maybe) to honest working people. My conclusion -- he's a shyster.
