Let me see if I've got this straight...
The decider submits a new budget in which he call for the largest military expenditures in the history of the world. This is laughingly referred to as the "Defense" budget, at $660,000,000,000.

Here is a basic synoopsis:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/04/AR2006020401179.html

In the same budget, there are cuts to Medicare totaling $66,000,000,000 over five years. During that same period, Medicaid will see reductions of more than $26,000,000,000.

Here is another basic synopsis:http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070205/ap_on_go_pr_wh/budget_health

So, we increase "Defense" funds dramatically, while reducing health care funding?

What the hell is the matter with this country?
Is this going to be mentioned on the "news" any time soon?
How can one administration be so totally and completely against governing for the people?

This son of a bitch should be run out of town on a rail, on the outrage of this monstrosity alone.
I have not been surprised by the Bush Crime Family in a good long time and this is no exception. What it is, is an outrage; an insult and a slap in the face to all american citizens.

Someone please stop these maniacs. Please.

1. Congress could always vote down the budget until he "gets it" . . . n/t

To the contrary.
Congress gets to amend it to suit their taste--keeping in mind any veto threat--and then pass it.

If * vetoes it, he's vetoed the budget. It's up to Congress to pass another one. Meanwhile, the spinmeisters go into high gear. IIRC, Reagan vetoed a budget and lost the PR battle, while Clinton did the same thing and defended the moral high ground.

2. His agenda is hidden from us
and the press is doing the hiding.
But his agenda is to do what one of the Neo Cons said, reduce the size of government until it small enough to drag into the bathroom and drown in the bathtub,
And the best way to do it is to spend it into bankruptcy and turn the functions over to the private sector. And that include the military which is largely privatized already.

3. I am about that . . close to moving to Canada
I know he won't get the budget he submits, but as soon as a Dem suggests cutting the Pentagon, you have cries of "unpatriotic" and "peacenik" etc, etc.

5. Amazing. We outspend the entire world combined.
And yet someone could be accused of being unpatriotic, by being sensible.

6. why the hell do we have to spend that much on defense?
We saw what happened when the hijackers used box cutters. Who are we defending ourselves against? I don't hear Communist China rattling sabres, I don't see Brazil expanding their zone of influence.

7. Obviously, it's "Offense" not "Defense".
To call it defense is nothing but propaganda.

8. People who expect to get their way
often make unreasonable demands so that they appear to be reasonable afterall after having been talked down to a normal-sized demand.

But then again, this is *.

9. War is not good for the economy but it
is an excellent tool to fleece and redistribute american tax dollars into paying billions for such useful items as 50% failure rate 1000lb JDams, Nuclear armed Trident Submarines, $60,000 unarmored HMMWVs and so forth.

15. Didn't you hear Health Director Leavitt explain all this?
It's not cutbacks - they are trimming the fat and making it more efficient...

Of course some rabble rousers would say that it is the Militray that should cut back and
become a bit more efficient

16. THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE HAS BEEN IGNORED
It has been walk on and run into the ground by our beloved corporation with no morals just a bottom line! The so call free press has nothing to say about it as far as it being a bad thing, No of course not they just print it as another story and then remind us that we need to be a secure and safe country. And we must give up the pursuit of happiness and freedom to achieve this so called goal.
