Senate Approves February Presidential Primary for California
Senate Approves February Presidential Primary for California
Written for the web by Ayesha Thomas, Multimedia Producer

SACRAMENTO (AP) -- The state Senate has voted to move California's 2008 presidential primary from June to February in hopes of giving the state a larger say in national politics.

The move adds California to a list of at least nine other states that have or are considering moving their presidential primaries to February fifth.

Supporters say the measure is necessary in California because presidential candidates typically visit the state to raise money but spend little time courting voters. The Democrat and Republican
nominations are usually decided long before the state's traditional June primary.

2. Oh, goody
My vote will count in 2008. It seems unfortunate that states with so few people in them have been so influential on who we get to vote for in the general election.

3. Does anybody know if Pennsylvania set its primary date yet?
I really hope they have and that they moved it up. I know Gov. Rendell was pushing for it but I never saw it through.
