Sticker: "Bush: Saving your ass, like it or not." (Update.)
Some of you may remember that I posted about a ridiculous bumper sticker I saw on a Suburban around my city this past Spring. "Bush: Saving your ass, like it or not." At the time, underneath it, the driver (?) had placed a sticker supporting one of the Republicans running for governor here (the evil Kevin Mannix). I found myself sitting in traffic behind said Suburban tonight, and the "Saving your ass" sticker is still there (though the Mannix sticker is long gone). Above the "Saving your ass" sticker, however? Is one with a peace sign on it.

Strange, yes? A sign of how far Bush has fallen since May? A sign that two (radically) different people drive that Suburban? That the driver is a hypocrite? I don't know. But I thought I'd mention it. These days are very strange.

1. I think a lot of RW's have
abandon W. One of my neighbors, who is an ardent RWer has abandon Bush, months ago...I think its a trend, the supporters are jumping ship...the ones supporting W now, are just, in short, nutz.

3. Ah, nice to see you here.
My other thought was that perhaps the driver had his/her Suburban vandalized and hasn't noticed yet.

5. You can fool some of the people all of the time ...
I think we all should welcome anyone who has woken up into the fold, however belatedly they may have become conscious.

Bush is a betrayal of everything traditional republicans hold dear anyway: a corporate puppet and crooked spendthrift.

7. Oh, I always welcome (and validate) the converts.
Even if I have to walk away from them right after the welcome, grinding my teeth because they've said something like "As long as we don't start letting gays get married, I'll vote Democrat."

15. I want to see a broader acknowledgement that conservatism has been tried and
that it failed. For six years the conservative movement had total, unquestioned control over the government and they put every one of their ideological plans into practice, with catastrophic results. I don't see any acknowledgment of that. They turn on the Bush Administration, but never acknowledge the real failure; that of conservative ideology as a whole.

2. Rather than scraping it off his car
He could just cross out "saving your" and "Like it or not"-

so it would just say "Bush: ass"

8. Best one I saw lately: Big "W" with "(orst)" in parentheses next to it
The vehicle also had another one, "Send the Twins!" - and what really made my day, 2 or 3 different Vietnam and veterans' dealies.

9. Likely comes from impenetrable, circular logic. Can't reason with some people.
Saw a bumper sticker recently: "Republicans for Voldemort".

10. I've seen that one on a truck in my neighborhood
I think it said "George Bush is saving your ass whether you like it or not."

There was no peace sign on this guy's truck though. Hard to square those two.

Odd.

11. My plumber's "W" sticker is gone from his truck's rear window.
He is here right now. I just went down and looked. Six months ago he had "W" and "BU$H/CHENEY '04" stickers on his truck. Gone. Both.

13. Strange one, that. However,...
... I have noticed that there are VERY few 'W' stickers to be seen around these parts (deep south, Louisiana, north-central part of state) of late.

It still 'irks' me that the best one can get out of die hard (former) * lovers is something like, ' Yeah, he may have messed things up, but, you know, you just can't trust ANY politicians ' - meaning that, if THEY can't trust THEIR 'politicians', then NO ONE can trust ANY 'politician'. They just can't say, 'my guy was a piece of shit'.

14. Yeah. It's still far too hard for them to admit to any fault in their
strict father figures. That would be like admitting total defeat and...we can't have that.

17. The fact that we were right kills them.
They would rather chew off their own arm than admit a Dem is the better leader. So they try to deny us our due.

18. Then, if the fact that we were right kills them, then let them be killed,...
...and decrease the surplus republican population. (with massive apologies to Chucky D.)

Nah, I really don't wish the little turd-lickers any ill will, I just don't have much sympathy for their delicate sensibilities after what they have, to date, put this country, and the rest of the world, through.
