Turned on Joe Scabro on MSNBC, and he had all 5 Mittens-sons
around him. They all looked healthy and able-bodied. Not a single one in a military uniform. When asked about campaigning, they all replied how they loved it and how much fun it was. :banghead: And Joe S had the nerve to talk about how hardworking they aare and what a great work ethic their dad, as a mormon, has.

7. The fix is in. If Scarborough is big on Romney he's on his way.
Scarborough represents the Repub establishment, who is scared of Huckabee. He might not carry Iowa but it should be close, and he will ultimately get the nomination.

11. Romney was the front runner in Iowa for a long time, and to lose Iowa is
a set-back and McCain has been surging in NH and an Iowa loss by Romney will help McCain there. Mitt all along has been hoping for a one-two punch in Iowa and NH and without it he's probably out.

27. If Romney does poorly in both Iowa anhd NH you are right, but
I don't think that will happen. McCain could pull ahead but again I don't think that will happen. Giuliani looks bad right now and Thompson is probably finished. I just don't know who the repub establishment will turn to other than Romney. I can't believe thay will let Huckabee walk off with the nomination.

9. a real reporter would have asked first, do you support the war in Iraq?
and then when all five raise their hands and say "You bet" he would ask, "Will any of you show your support by enlisting and asking to go to Iraq?" and watch them squirm.

14. That was one of the most disgusting quotes I've heard!
:argh:

If I heard correctly, 3 Mittbots are in real estate investing, 1 does something for the Dodgers and the other is in advertising. At least 3 of them are working "full time" for Pa Mitt.

Gee, I wish all those serving in the Military could opt out of combat duty and fulfill their obligation by volunteering for a political campaign.

Five arrogant sacks of shit! :nuke:

18. One must be in med school
Der Mittenfuhrer made a big deal of how he couldn't pay med school tuition for one of his little fuckups at an appearance here. That med school was so expensive. Mittens only has a quarter billion. Apparently only billionaires can go to med school.

19. You're right about one in med school. Maybe 2 are in investment real
estate.

Regardless, volunteering to work to get Pa Mitt elected does not constitute "serving one's country" in my book.

15. As the mother of a Marine with 3 tours
to Iraq, I really resented that statement. I'm glad we have a volunteer military. I hope we don't reinstate the draft. And there really are many ways to serve your country that don't include military service. But campaigning for Dad is not one of them.

17. Have you ever heard of the Sullivan Brothers?

"One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president." -- Mitt Romney, explaining today why it's okay that none of his five sons enlisted in the military.

How can the President of the United States compel other people's sons and daughters to go to war when he/she won't allow/suggest his own to serve in the military? How can he compare his sons' contributions to his campaign to the everyday sacrifices of our men and women in uniform?

Romney's sons would be great candidates because they are all under 40 years of age. Senator Jim Webb and Senator John McCain both have sons in the military. Why aren't the Romney boys in the service?

Have you ever heard of the Sullivan Brothers? Their lives were given in service to their country in World War II. Albert, Francis, George, Joseph, and Madison all served together on the same Navy ship (USS Juneau). They were all killed.

24. Yes, and their service brought about a change in policy
for wartime service, IIRC. May they all RIP. Mitt's response was an insult to the military, IMO.

26. Romney is clearly the GOP establishment's candidate.
It was almost funny to see how the punditocracy immediately set about smearing Huckabee the moment he started pulling ahead. They *never* smear GOP candidates, but they were suddenly treating him the way they treat Democrats. He could do nothing right. Suddenly his past comments were relevant, which is almost never the case for Republicans.

They only want to toss the the Christian Right a bunch of symbolic issues-- they don't want to the believers to actually to be in charge. The GOP establishment wants another Bush; another empty-headed suit who basically just serves Wall Street. Romney is their man. They couldn't care less about his religion.
