Progressive Talk Radio: Who Do You Like?
Aside from Thom Hartmann (syndicated), I am completely over Air America. I now listen exclusively to Nova M Radio ( http://www.novamradio.com/ ) out of Phoenix ( www.1480kphx.com listen live)

Who do you listen to/like?

4. I agree on Hartmann/Seder (but would throw in Maddow and...)
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 12:27 PM by ihavenobias
Why does Air America insist on getting rid of their top talent?

Consider Malloy getting dumped and then Seder (downgraded to Sundays only)!

What are these fools thinking?

The most recent poor decision by Air America was firing Kent Jones from the Maddow show and now Cenk Uygur (who should've made that list IMO, or at least had an honorable mention) of The Young Turks is leaving AA (supposedly it was mutual but I'm not so sure).

PS---Speaking of Seder, he'll be one of many guests on the TYT caucus show tonight:

9. I don't like any of what I've heard...
...although in fairness, I haven't listened to much of it. I find the talk format nasty, self-congratulatory, and divisive. I HATED the proliferation of right wing bile-fests during the Clinton years. They made careers spewing venom. There was nothing good to emulate, IMO, so the rise of left wing talk radio that does the same thing, just from a different position, is NOT something I like very much. I find the whole format poisonous.

10. only Thom Hartmann
Randy Rhodes is surprisingly inarticulate, falling back on "omigods" & "unbelievables".

"Big" Ed Schultz is a suck up & is essentially a conservative.

Mike Malloy is a hysteric.

Stephanie Miller is a comic - doesn't really count.

14. Thom H, stephanie, randi, AND ... the much maligned alan Colmes
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 12:38 PM by Kashka-Kat
What's wrong with Alan Colmes? Ive never seen the tv show (with shawn hanity) so I don't know about that, but his radio show is great , love how he gives the right wing wackos plenty of rope to hang themselves... and that they do, regularly. Much more lively than listening to someone just blathering on "preaching to the choir" like some of the a.a.

cant stand the Young turks (huh? are they turkish?) Truly a "show about nothing." Cant stand it.

Randi and her vast store of knowledge is great when shes not too full of her own self (thankfully not too often but sometimes just gotta turn it offf)

Thom Hartmann is fabulous - love how he gets at political issues via non political frames of references (eg psychologically, historically, anthropoligically). Again a person who is not afraid to talk with people on the "other side" who disagree with him.

16. Hartmann, Stephie, Randi and Rachel
We don't get Rachel here, though, ever since she moved to evenings. I listen to Cenk, but only because he's what's there in the morning while I get ready for work. I have no idea who our local affiliate is going to replace him with when he goes Internet-only after the 15th.

I like Sam, but he's not on here at a time I listen to the radio.

18. Steph and the mooks
I need a large dose of humor to cope with current events lately. And I gotsta support a fellow Western NY chick!

Can't stand Ed anymore, and Randi gets on my nerves a lot lately. Half an hour of Rachel after the local evening news simulcast, which I enjoy catching if I'm in the car at the time, and progressive talk radio is over for the day. :(

24. I ended up with the Sangean WFR-20 WiFi Internet Radio because it comes with a remote control.
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 01:48 PM by in_cog_ni_to
:) You can listen to thousands of radio stations around the world. Lithuania, Russia, UK, Iran, Costa Rica, USA ....the list is endless actually. If it steams online, The radio will play it. You need to have a Wireless Router though. The radio connects to it just like a computer does. I didn't have to do anything but turn it on, it connected to my Wireless Router and off I was to listen to Internet Radio. It really is awesome! Here's a link:

30. I don't know why Lionel is on Air America.
He has stated one of his early radio programs on Air America that he didn't know if he was republican, democrat, progressive etc.

WTF??!!! Then why have him on Air America?

One would think AA would have made damn sure the guy is a Liberal before ever putting him on the air. I still can't believe Sam Seder was replaced with that fool.:( It makes me sick. Sam ROCKS!:loveya:
