Well, it is in the jury's hands now. It is always hard to get a conviction in cases like this. But whatever the outcome, it's hard to defend the act of revealing the identity of a covert CIA operative.
I hope Fitzgerald continues his investigation until he finds the truth and gets the evidence he needs to punish everyone involved. Penetrating the secrecy of the Bush White House can't be easy. But I wish him luck.
To those Bushite partisans who actually DEFEND the outing of Valerie Plame: You disgust me.

1. Hard To Get A Conviction? |
|
I don't see what's so difficult? It amazes me how those in power continually get away with stuff, while those of us in the reality based world, would never have a chance at redemption.
Libby deserves to rot in jail, as do the others he conspired with. That they continue to have chances at success and prosperity makes me sick and ashamed of the world I find myself living in.
Is there no justice? Is there no accountability? Only for us peons perhaps?

Perjury convictions are always hard to get. You have to prove someone lied -- not just misspoke.

When the same story is corroborated by 9 different people, and Libby is the only one who says anything different. Oh, and it's one thing to say you mis-spoke, it's quite another to claim a conversation happened (w/ Russert) that NEVER happened. That's not mis-speaking and there's no way to claim it's mis-speaking or mis-remembering considering the context and all the other evidence.
I predict a guilty verdict on at least one of the counts.
