Edwards brings up another very important point....
If America is projected to LOSE 20-30 MILLION JOBS within the next decade....and it's not the 'mill/factory' workers (b/c how many 'mill/factory' jobs do we really have left anyway - American manufacturing is STRUGGLING, and arguably, in it's death throes....

So, WHO is gonna LOSE those jobs???? The college graduate! The college graduate that YOU (as a parent) or as a student on your own is working very hard to pay for!

Is it okay that 20-30 million jobs will be lost w/in the next decade????? You or your college graduate won't be able to find a job?!?!?!? :wow:

1. He's right. He's keeping us on topic about the bad economy, lack of jobs, and suffering of so many.
I love that man!!!!

3. I read an article the other day about the most "protected" jobs
in the US, the ones that they will never be able to outsource and the article was written to encourage young people to consider them ... it was beautician/cosmetologist and blue collar jobs. Things that someone on the phone in India can't do long distance. It was very depressing.

4. Who will the beauticians work for, though?
Once all the other jobs are outsourced, even these "safe" jobs are not viable.

6. Yeah, I know. I've been trying to get young guys
to try for plumber or electrician internships, something that can't be outsourced but is a quality high paying profession. An electrician charged me $300 for less than a days work, and about $25 in supplies and I gladly paid it. Electricity scares me, and I'll pay to get it done right.

5. so it doesn't matter if the working class is poor
but when it hits YOU (the educated middle class college graduate) that's when we should start to care?

which is an effective strategy, connecting with somebody's self interest, but at least lets be intellectually honest about this

another question is, do you support tax cuts that get rid of social programs that don't benefit you directly?

7. No, but what currently remains of the middle class is more likely to vote
and to be able to exert some 'influence' on behalf of us all.

And, NO, I don't support tax cuts that get rid of social programs that don't benefit *me*. Not at all.
