is that how we're doing it now? We're going to start GROSSLY misrepresenting the facts? I'm no Clinton supporter, but you know DAMN well that's not what she was tearing up about.

3. But, from the rest of the story, she didn't tear up because of needing help with her hair. |
|
Her full quote from your link:
"It's not easy and I couldn't do it if I just didn't, you know, passionately believe it was the right thing to do. You know, I have so many opportunities from this country, I just don't want to see us fall backwards (voice breaks a bit, people applaud) This is very personal for me it's not just political, it's -- I see what's happening, we have to reverse it and some people think elections are a game.
They think it's who is up or who is down. It's about our country it's about our kids' futures it's really about all of us together you know let's (inaudible) just put ourselves out there and do this against some pretty difficult odds. And we do it each one of us cause we care about our country. But some of us are right and some of us are wrong. Some of us ready and some of us are not. Some of us know what we will do on day one and some of us haven't really thought that through enough and so when we look at the array of problems we have and the potential for getting really spinning out of control this is one of the most important elections America's ever faced," Clinton said.
She then began to compose herself.
"So as tired as I am -- and I am. And as difficult as it is to try and keep up what I try to do on the road - like occasionally exercise and try to eat right, it's tough when the easiest food is pizza - I just believe so strongly in who we are as a nation so I'm gonna do everything I can to make my case and you know the voters get to decide. Thank you."

13. Come on bigtree, you know it's not about her hair, which your OP states |
|
If you want to get onto her about it being *personal*, etc., than change the OP title or something. You're gonna get slammed on this one.

Here's the whole quote after the bit about how she got "teary-eyed."

I think it IS naturally harder for a woman candidate to put on the game face every day. Women are scrutinized much harder than men when it comes to appearances. I'm sure that wears on you after a while.

19. Yes, I see your point. |
|
I thought, however, you had fallen victim to the OP's false claim.
Yes, I know fully that odd things can trigger tears. For me, all Christmas season this year, everytime I heard "The Little Drummer Boy" I broke out in tears. My kids just don't understand why and, in their 'from the mouths of babes' way have mentioned it to strangers even in stores and such. It was quite embarrassing at times.

We were discussing this issue at dinner and I made note of the Little Drummer Boy thing and my 8 year old gently reminded me that I also cried when Bush was re-selected.

Based on what I've read of most any Presidential campaign, I think it's a wonder that all the candidates haven't gotten weepy at some point (I'm talking both sides here--it's just plain physically difficult, and most people get emotional when they're tired).
And Hillary, pretty much no matter what kind of emotion she displays, she'll get hammered for it. I don't like it when she comes off sounding like a damn robot reciting talking points, but I can understand why she does it.
Very, very few people have her husband's talent for sounding genuine at almost any given moment.

Yes, I do feel sorry for her and understand she is under an extraordinary amount of stress, but she can't do this. The media will pounce on her and say she's cracking under the pressure; how on earth will she handle being president?

22. Women! My God they think they should be treated like human beings now? |
|
Oh, but we've let Kristol, and Starr, and Limbaugh and every other man and woman treat her like this evil, ambitious, uppity, self-promoting, empty breasted, sterile, beast, and for "political reasons" have taken license to throw the most outrageous shit at her. This is what you have let yourselves become. I've seen lots of politicians cry, and big muscular sports figures weep, but when a woman shows she's human she's a weaker leader than a man. Doesn't even matter who the man is.

It's the oldest trick in the book. Make the woman look "emotional" and hysterical, and you diminish her power.

When a woman looks weak, she garners sympathy, which she can mobilize against her attackers (as seen with Edwards.) I'm not saying the "tear up" was intentional, but they are using it quite effectively.
