Barrack Obama: Please THINK before you vote. Consider this:

1. He supports the home grown 'terrorism' bill. http://www.indypendent.org/2007/12/10/obama-supports-homegrown-terrorism-bill/
This is one of the most frightening pieces of legislation that has been yet put forth to Congress. It labels the internet as a tool of terrorism, & its vague language does not give any clear legal definition, as to SPECIFIC activity. Here is the ACLU statement regarding the homegrown terrorism act: The fact the senator would even CONSIDER this piece of legislation in current form shows he lacks either the knowledge and/or committment to uphold our civil liberties.

http://www.aclu.org/safefree/general/32886prs20071128.html

2. Selling out progressives in fighting to filibuster Supreme Court Nominee Judge Samuel Alito. This told me EVERYTHING about Barrack Obama. Let me state up front that Barrack DID EVENTUALLY vote to filibuster Judge Alito BUT & this is a big BUT, it only occurred after days of constant phone calls, faxing, cajoling, & outrage from progressives who spent day & night barraging his office. I personally called his office three days in a row, & their original postition was leaning against it. During this period, he went on national television decrying progressive efforts to filibuster this disastrous nomination. He showed NO leadership at all on this issue. We had to BEG him to do the right thing. He decried our efforts and predicted its doom before the filibuster vote. And, then, he expressed outrage when Judge Alito was the deciding vote to ban partial birth abortions. This is SOOOOOOO
important because it says everything about his qualities as a leader. People on DU were OUTRAGED when this occurred. But, he did cover his own political ass by voting for the filibuster after tearing down on efforts to actually get enough votes for it to work. It was a political move of the slimest proportions because you would have to be directly involved in the fight to understand what actually went down. Link: http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2006-01-29-obama-alito_x.htm?csp=34

3. He voted for the Patriot Act.

4. He has the WEAKEST health care plan of the top democratic nominees. http://newdonkey.blogspot.com/2007/05/obamas-health-plan-best-of.html

5. His campaign is employing a Washington TOP Lobbyist who represented THE CARLYLE Group!!! Quote from linked article:

“His resume seems to contradict one of Obama's central themes on the campaign trail -- that as an outsider he can fend of the powerful business interests that he has argued have contributed to the income gap between rich and poor and has frustrated attempts to address issues such as high prescription drug costs and global warming.”

If he is ALREADY employing a lobbyist for one of the most corrupt corporations in the history of mankind, why on earth should we trust his judgement in making executive appointments?

LinK: http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2007/09/28/mercado_mosk.html

Lastly, here is an article from Common Dreams that gives an excellent analysis of Obama's position on foreign policy, the military, & the war on 'terrah':

http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/07/20/2648/

I can't even begin to articulate the thoughtful analysis of this commentary. All Obama supporters should read it.

6. I know, but she should call people to vote for him, not to vote against Obama.
He is not worse than the 2 other people that they could vote for instead of him, rather better.

11. As far as far as far as far as far as I can tell.... yup.

Takin' fish oil, mega niacin, 325 aspirin b.i.d., etc. Eliminated HFCS and high-cholestorol (omelets! sigh) comfort foods and generally "cleaning up my act." Been wrestling with med for hypertension - far too sensitive to it - seeing if half dose on alternate days is sallubrious.

Funny ... I've always liked strokes, too. :dunce: Live and learn - or learn to live.

3. Is that the worst you can come up with?
In the first link, there is an update saying Obama hasn't taken a position on that legislation.

On your 2nd point, he voted the right way.

On your 3rd, every Democratic Senator has been wrong on the Patriot Act except for Feingold.

5. I hope someone will get this to KO, even though it will not be in
time for NH. Why wasn't this brought to our attention earlier so that our meagre new media could have outed him?

9. Instead of getting universal healthcare, this country will get....
The Healthcare lobbying lobbying democrats and republicans to keep them in the picture. What good are universal mandates? Just more fees that lower middle class people will have to pay if they cant afford insurance, and still have no health insurance. This country needs single payer insurance immediately and I don't understand Senator Clinton's plan at all.

25. Mandated health insurance isn't health care coverage

We have it in MA. Some only have crisis coverage, others have full coverage, & some still don't have ANY coverage.

It is a joke. Oh, & guess who gets to write the details of the MA plan.....Ready? THE PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES! What a wet dream!

14. YAWN. Must be nice working the grassroots for your candidate...Hillary shill.
Guess what? Your candidate did the same. Plus, she wimped out to the BFEE and AIPAC and voted in a manner that pushed us closer to war with Iran.

24. I know it. Beware the candidates the corporate media cheer....

The right wing wanted a cowboy & a macho image, the left wants the illusion of 'hope' without the record to back it up (indeed, the contrary)....

What a disappointment, but I suppose real change will come AFTER the reality of a dem President who fails to change anything. Maybe, then we can look past the smoke & mirrors & work towards true change. Another phase in the long drawn out awakening of America.

19. Barrack is a corporatist. I don't care what color he is, or gender
He's against socialized health care. I wont vote for him.
The Patriot Act isn't. It is unpatriotic. Traitorous, in fact.

Kucinich is the only one with us, fighting for us, and we let him wither.

20. fact check this thread
What kind of BS is being peddled here ? The Patriot act passed in 2001. Obama took office in the US Senate in 2005.

It's amazingly condescending to issue a blanket presumption that Obama sources haven't yet gotten around to thinking about who they support in this election...

And you're seriously making an issue out of the day job of one of his organizers ? What, you think he should just move to some other universe where lobbying doesn't exist, so as to preserve infinite degrees of separation ?

26. The second version of the Patriot Act, not the first

In 2006.....

And, why don't you READ the information I posted, with the links?

Day job of one of his organizers. HE IS A TOP WASHINGTON LOBBYIST WHO WORKED FOR THE CARLYLE group. I can just imagine what DU would be saying about a repuke who hired someone like this for their campaign. I guess if you have a D after your name, it is all fine.

Open your eyes.

23. Upon examination of Obama's policies, he represents LITTLE change

Just what the corporate state needs - a dem candidate who masks as a progressive, but will serve their interests. And, the people will cheer.

Flame away, but he is all snakeoil.
