votehelp.org calculator currently inverting results |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 03:59 PM by dusmcj
when I used the votehelp.org calculator and gave my usual liberal responses, it pretty much inverted the results, ranking the Reboobs near the top for me and the Dems near the bottom. On an unambiguous question like support for abortion, it indicated I agreed with the Reboobs and disagreed with the Dems. I happen to know that one-for- one this is the reverse of the facts. I redid the survey using just the initial questions and answering as I would and it failed the same way. I then redid it answering like a conservative, and it gave partly inverted results, but in this case indicated that I agreed with the Repubs on abortion (as I had entered for this test run).
A few possibilities come to mind: - the calculator has a bug - the calculator has been hacked to produce inverted results - the calculator is a false flag op designed to mislead people, and particularly potential liberal voters
I leave it to the folks at votehelp.org to rectify this apparent error and post here to indicate that their tool is working again.

1. I was getting messed up results |
|
Everytime I loaded the page, there'd be different answers in every box and I can't help but think that if you click 'enough already, show me the results,' it uses the pre-loaded answers to the final 18 questions in calculating your results. When I skipped the last 18 questions, I got results like Obama-Romney-Huckabee-Paul-Biden for the top five.
Then again, even when answering every question, I got Giuliani, Paul, McCain, Huckabee, and Romney in my top ten. So something is definitely screwed up. Look at the percentages of your results--they're messed up. It seems to average issues with "personality" (what?) for the "total match."
I clicked on "personality" and was taken to another screen with pre-loaded answers (only for the Rethugs) to questions relating to what I think of the candidates personally. I changed each of them to "no opinion" and presto-change-o......wait, what the fuck? Thompson-Paul-Romney-Huckabee? Back to the issues questions and lo-and-behold, different answers in all of the boxes. Refresh the screen and yet another set of different answers.
It looks like they 'help you out' by picking random answers to every question you haven't answered (before you answer them) including the 'personality' questions, but only for some candidates. If you match a candidate 100% on the issues, but the random personality answers (that you can't change until after you get your results) only match that candidate 10%, you only have a 20% match with that candidate.
