I could get along without huckabee
the religiously insane will adopt him and he'll move farther and farther toward theofascism, while pretending to be mainstream. he's a wack job.

1. Did anybody on DU ever take him seriously?
I never have and I don't think he stands a snowball's chance in hell. Americans may have been stupid enough to re-elect Bush, but they're not stupid enough to elect Huckabee. I don't worry about him. McCain, I worry about.

3. I think huckabee stands a chance of winning the repuke nomination
if he panders more to the religiously insane, who feel abused and abandoned

6. It is for me; but I think a frighteningly high percentage of our fellow
citizens agree with him.

4. Having watched the Republican debates, I think he is a genuine
threat.

If you don't know anything about him, he comes across as quite reasonable and affable.

In the last debate, McCain, Romney, Guiliani and Thompson showed their fangs, especially on the war issue.

And poor old Paul, frustrated beyond belief when he was actually telling the gospel truth about American militarism, looked almost crazed trying to defend himself against McCain, Romney, Guiliani and Thompson, all smirking in the background.

No, I think the threat of a Huckabee candidacy is underestimated on this board.
