A black voter at an Edwards rally in South Carolina had this to say:
Heard it on NPR this morning.

"If you could take a little of Senator Clinton, and a little of Senator Barack, and a little of Senator Edwards you'd have the perfect candidate. But that's not life."

None of our guys are perfect but they are ALL a far sight better than the options.

1. They are all good and they all have faults so why
are we so hard on them.

2. I've decided to withhold my support from a specific candidate
I had picked one but their supporters have turned me off. I love the candidate but the supporters are what I have a problem with. So I'll wait and vote in November for whoever manages to survive the backstabbing and attacks.

9. Let's not hold candidates responsible for their supporters.
What would you think if I told you that I had decided to go out and buy the new Bruce Springsteen CD because I like his songs, but then I decided against it because I have a problem with some Springsteen fan who once told me that Bon Jovi is "kind of lame"? :eyes:

11. As I said, I like them all
But I'm saving what money I have to help defeat the GOP in November, not to bash a Democratic candidate in January.

4. Sometimes I think we stop thinking
about them as humans and consider them robots. The election cycle has such a circus-like atmosphere it seems we are just watching the trained seals. If we could just get the pundits, journalists and troublemakers off the air we might get somewhere.

3. There is no part of Hillary or her triangulating wind sock that I would take
to assemble the perfect candidate. I understand the Obama and Edwards part though.

7. Which isn't going to happen
I like Gore but he wasn't my first choice in 2000. I still voted for him though.

I actually think Gore came into his own after he left Washington. He was free to do what he wanted to do without being called a "corporatist" or a "centrist" or a "liberal" or any of the other labels that your detractors like to use when you are in politics and they don't agree with you. I personally am glad he isn't running. I think he can get more done on his own than as a politician.

just got tired of this whining and lying from the Clinton camp (whom I voted for twice) and decided it was time to comment. Not going any where. Thanks.

You won't be very popular around here.

22. Seems more like
stating the truth. Gore did choose Lieberman and it was a horrible choice. Ironically your reply sums up the problem with many posters on this board--thin skinned. I'm not looking for popularity or friends. I only hope to provide some objectivity and reality when people are assessing candidates.

20. To be fair though, who here could have foreseen that disaster?
Sure, Lieberman's moral indignation was annoying during the Clinton years, but his voting record (if I recall correctly) wasn't too bad. If someone would have told me in 2000 that Lieberman would start kissing Bush, promoting war, and quit the Democratic Party in order to run as an Independent I would have laughed my a$$ off.

There's a reason why Gore didn't endorse him in 2004. While he might not have a crystal ball, he does have common sense.

21. lol. Already it's turned into a bash Hilary thread
With a little bash Gore thrown in. And Gore isn't even running.

It's nice how people can find nasty things to say, even when it isn't called for.

26. Isn't that kind of childish?
My point is none of the candidates are perfect and they all have faults. All we do is attack them rather than sell our candidate on his/her good points. All that does is turn potential voters off.

I'm not a Hilary supporter. I actually like Obama best but would vote for any of them. But the attacks from all the supporters are turning me off. If only we could hear from the candidates rather than their supporters. They'd be a whole lot more likeable to me without the unpaid hit squads who think they're doing their guy a favor by bashing the other side.

I'll still vote for the eventual nominee but the candidates' supporters have soured me as far as primary support and none of their supporters have done a damned thing to sell their candidate.

The attacks, I repeat are childish and saying it's ok because her side does it too is also childish.

We have a golden opportunity to win the White House. All of the GOP candidates are terribly weak, yet we're going to tear our candidates down before we even make it to the general election. I can't wait until the GOP starts throwing our own attacks at the eventual nominee. Hilary's a racist. Barack's a corporate whore. Edwards is too far left.

We can lose this thing, you know.
