Michigan Primary Indecision. |
|
I've been by my polling place a couple of times already today and both times I've turned around and gone home. I've got several issues and can't decide what I should do. My first issue is the new MI requirement to declare a party affiliation. Now, I'm a Democrat but it's really nobody's business what my affiliation is and I'm really not excited about going on someones mailing list. I may abstain from voting because of this and hope the state of Michigan gets the message for next time. Secondly, the Democratic primary results count for nothing. We will have no delegates for the convention, so to me it might not be worth it to vote. On the other hand I could register as a Republican and vote for the candidate we could have the best chance of defeating in the general. Problem is, I don't like it when Republicans do it and that would make my a hypocrite if I did the same. Lastly, if I do vote Dem, my candidate may not be on the list. I'm undecided as of now and Hillary is the only major candidate on the ballot. I in a quandary here.

1. if nobody on dem line appeals to you vote in GOP primary for Mittens |
|
and try to keep that contest going. He would be much easier to defeat than McCain.

3. I'm Not So Sure Of That. |

I honestly think McCain is borderline psychotic and will appear to be way to much like Boosh to be elected. I think Romney is dangerous.

2. Chris Dodd is on the ballot, too. Does that help? |
|
He was at the top of my ballot when I voted earlier.

Dennis is on the ballot as well and he does appeal to me. If either were on the ballot though, I'd probably choose between Edwards and Obama.

4. Is it a presidential primary only? |
|
I know that in Indiana and Illinois they do not have a special primary for just presidential elections. If Michigan is the same, then you need to go vote on the Democratic ballot so you can vote for your congress-critter, state legislatures, school board, etc.

Even if the delegates don't count, at least you will have done your part to make the Democratic primary a more fair and honest process, by preventing the media and the DLC from perpetuating the lie that Hillary & Obama are the only ones running. A Kucinich win in Michigan is a win for ALL of us.

10. I am voting UNCOMMITTED. Gore, Edwards, Obama, Richardson, Biden supporters should do the same |
|
If you candidate is on the ballot, vote for 'em. If you want to be "stratgeic," vote for Romney. Dailykos.com has the reasons why some Dems are doing it.

11. I hope you checked out the many posts about this in the MI Forum at DU |
|
Don't vote uncommitted....vote Kucinich - give him the delegates. ;)
Uncommitted means the delegates will vote any way they want to and you will have no say.
