What do the Freepers think of Bush's "admission" that we're in (or about to be in) a recession? |
|
I know some of you have the guts to go over there. What are their thoughts on their fearless leader admitting that everything isn't as rosy as they have convinced themselves it is?

11. No, I waded over there a couple days ago... |

We were sliding into a recession the last few months the Clenis was in office. His fault. So, that would mean we are actually in a depression, since it has lasted so long, right?
FYI...High gas prices back in the 70's were Carter's fault, but now; Bush has no control over the cost per gallon. Just one more thing for the Liberal Bush haters to blame him for.
Do I have to explain everything around here? :eyes:

I saw was "Global warming protest frosted with snow" and the usual, expected answers like "What a bunch of fools".

Lurking at FR is a guilty pleasure of mine... here's a few posts from the first thread I came across on the recession.
1. This doesn’t make sense. I’d bet these economists are expecting and trying to get a Dim elected POTUS with their lust for a recession, and skew the survey by saying they prefer a Republican.
2. but lately I’ve been thinking that maybe a long, deep recession is just what this country needs. Not that I relish economic misery, but I suspect decades of economic prosperity has made us lazy, spoiled, foolish, and (yes) increasingly liberal. We need some pain to wake us out of our stupor. 9/11 did it for a while, but then we backslid with a vengence.
3. The odds of a recession are 100%. The question is when? The weird thing is that some Freepers can't wait for pain to be inflicted on the country/world.
4. A few months of slow economic activity is not going to turn lazy, spoiled, foolish liberals into conservatives. It isn’t even going to cause most people to save. They will simply go deeper into credit card debt and then whine about it. The DBM will innundate us with sob stories. The fault will be laid at the feet of capitalist Republicans and Bush.
5. I mentioned on the other thread (to no response, for obvious reasons), that we have certain political figures on the Right (and FReepers who support them) who are as vested in economic defeat as certain Democrats are vested in strategic/tactical defeat in the war in Iraq.
6. I keep hearing all of this talk of a recession. How much is based on this horrible congress that wants to raise taxes?
7. A prolonged, deep recession will give us a RAT President.
Funny how the “bad news” that was Iraq has been replaced, in time for the election cycle, by the “bad news” in the economy.
Expect every little financial hiccup to be met with screams of despair and horror by the MSM....
It is “It’s the economy, stupid...” redux.
8.I always point out that my grandfather felt economies were like forests and that if not managed correctly would eventually reach the point where the only thing that could restore balance was a major forest fire. He said that depressions are the forest fires of economics.
9. Pretty simple, if you don't want cock roaches in your house, then don't leave food and crumbs on the counter and floor.
10. We are seeing the natural progression of the massive transfer of wealth from those who produce it to those who simply benefit from it.
You are oh so right about the balanced budget and the waste and size of government! The cure they’re looking for is simply a way to minimize the punishment of those who are responsible for our sorry state of affairs by appearing to be on the side of the less fortunate.
11. January is normally when they start talking up recessions in an election year. It takes a while to scare folks enough to get them to start pulling back so the media-created recession will show up in time for the election.
