What beliefs do not fit within the Democratic Party? |
|
What political positions are completely incongruous with the Democratic Party? We have seen a lot of discussion about how neither Hillary nor Obama are true Democrats because of positions they have taken. However, what truly places someone outside the party? I want to hear what everyone thinks.
I have two major criteria personally:
1. I point to one overarching idea about economic policy. If you believe that free markets operate so efficiently and effectively that government intervention is never needed you cannot possibly be a Democrat.
2. Regarding social policy, I feel that if you are in favor of any form of discrimination you cannot possibly be a Democrat.
What are ideas, large or small, that one cannot believe in and be a Democrat in your view?

1. If you believe half the human race should be subjects of the |
|
other half of the human race in any way, you can't be a Democrat.
If you believe some jobs are so worthless that they shouldn't support a worker in decent housing, with nutritious food and access to medical care, you can't possibly be a Democrat.
If you think there is anything fair about a marketplace controlled by rich men, you can't be a Democrat.
If you think there is anything fair about denying a poor man's children food so that the rich will pay lower taxes, you can't be a Democrat.
If you think this country has a divine right to dictate to any other country how they run their government, you shouldn't be a Democrat, especially if that divine right includes the use of military force.
If you think the Pentagon is worth more than the national infrastructure, including the health of its people, you shouldn't be allowed to call yourself a Democrat.

5. Trying to build a meaningful coallition seems to be against Democratic principles |
|
That seems to be the cause of the over reaction to Obama's Reagan statement.

You know damn well thats not what Obama was talking about, but continue on with your faux outrage if you think you're helping our party to win in November.

10. I can think of several |
|
If you think white people are superior to other races, or any other race is superior to another race, you don't belong in the party.
If you think that people choose to be gay then you're not a democrat. (I won't expand farther on that, because unfortunately on some stuff like gay marriage even a bunch of moderate democrats would be against it, but not against other rights for gays like serving in the military)
Usually though I would hesitate to say anyone isn't a democrat from just one issue, because there are plenty of moderates in the party, and even extreme liberals will disagree with the democrats positions on some issues if they think hard enough about them.

11. The number one objective |

of both parties is to protect multi-national corporate business interests across the country and around the globe. These policies are the cause of the effects we are witnessing. Everything else is a show.
