Face it: "Republicans Were The Party Of Ideas...Over Last 10-15 Yrs..Challanging Conventional Wisdom
UNQUOTE

what the fuck? here, the quote in full

“I think it’s fair to say that the Republicans were the party of ideas for a pretty long chunk of time there over the last 10 to 15 years in the sense that they were challenging conventional wisdom.”
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dc/2008/01/hil-to-obama-gop-ideas-are-bad.html

ok...let's pretend we can all agree on that. yes...the republicans had LOTS of ideas--too many ideas for our own good actually but were they the "party of ideas?" and if so, were they the party of ideas for the last 10-15 years implying democrats didn't have a creative thought in our collective head for nearly a generation? and...the fact that they were some kind of mavericks by "challenging conventional wisdom?" like all this about republikas in general IS A GOOD THING?

WHY IS A DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT COMPLIMENTING THE GODDAMN REPUBLICAN FUCKING PARTY???

can someone explain that to me?
i just read this --i am stunned, finding it hard to believe. was that REALLY said? is it REALLY true? why the FUCK is mr. hope & inspiration saying shit like that???

4. You know I am so outraged
that I can't even muster any more outrage today. I have to say I have never hit that point in my life before.

9. This campaign seems so dirty to me. And, I honestly don't know
if I'm just sick and tired and cranky and mouthy or, if it's this campaign.

Both "frontrunners" praising f%cking REAGAN. John Edwards being shoved to the side. Dennis being excluded. Stir in the way we run elections, the way everybody has to raise MILLIONS while working people are losing their homes. It's just ugly.

15. It is so glaringly obvious that our candidates were "chosen"
and groomed from the finest corporate candidates that money can buy. I have a very strange cognitive dissonance today that I cannot explain. This doesn't seem to be MY party...it's like going through the Looking Glass and I feel like I am going to be expected to vote for a republican against my will while the entire country is falling down around our ears. I feel like I am watching Obamites and Clintonites as buzzards fighting over the carcass and picking the bones clean of what WAS this country. Very depressing.

16. I know. It is Friday, so maybe everything just seems a little worse today.
I've felt this way ever since Clinton ran for the NY Senate seat -- as if I was being set up to eat something I didn't want.

And, it's not even really about her for me. It's the corruption. The way we pay for everything and have no say in anything at all. Maybe it was always this way but I sure don't remember this sense of oppression.

I guess I'm going to donate to John and Dennis anyway and work election protection and try not to get myself canned. :(

17. We'll just keep hanging in there
Maybe a weekend off will do good.
On the bright side...did you see where Keith Olbermann is posting at Daily Kos?
I would have loved to see him here...but undoubtedly that would have turned ugly.

On edit: That just seems strange to me that this would outrage you more than all the other crap we've gone through in the past several years.

13. This whole culture has been moved so far to the right
it's hard to see the left from here.

Every now and then we have these little reality checks, like when both the leading candidates feel the need to praise RayGun.

25. Yeah . . . I think it was implied --- however, maybe most of all we need both Obama and HRC
to be challenged on some of this junk they are both spewing ---
all of it sounding rather high on Repubicans!!

Vagueness works when people listen with half an ear -- maybe they hear what they want to hear.

But I think we need to have solid info about candidates ---
let's push them to make this stuff clearer --- the very stuff we're talking about here.

And what do they leave behind? A bankrupted Treasury --
Tossing away of the Bill of Rights --- ground laid for fascism --

And unstoppable privatized Pentagon/military ---

27. He isn't complimenting Republicans. He's slamming the Clintons.
Edited on Sun Jan-20-08 02:43 AM by Radical Activist
He's distancing himself from a Democratic Party that did nothing but be against the Republicans from 1994 on. He's saying that we need to be a party that has backbone and stands for something instead of going back to the old days of small poll tested platitudes. Its similar to what Dean said in '04.
