Gore Comes 'OUT' for Gay Marriage!
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 10:09 PM by debbierlus

Bless him.

Obama should take a page.

"I think that gay men and women ought to have the same rights as heterosexual men and women, to make contracts, to have hospital visiting rights, to join together in marriage," Gore said. "And I don’t understand why it is considered by some people to be a threat to heterosexual marriage to allow it by gays and lesbians. Shouldn’t we be promoting that kind of faithfulness and loyalty to one’s partner regardless of sexual orientation?

During his unsuccessful presidential campaign in 2000, Gore said he supported domestic partner benefits for gays and lesbians but opposed "changing the institution of marriage as it is presently understood -- between a man and a woman."

5. I would have more respect for this statement
If he had made it when he had something to lose. Saying it now is like me saying it. Who cares?
The only way we will destroy the hypocrisy is to have leaders who put it on the line when they have to deal with public opinion.

Sorry. That's my take on it.

9. Obviously he's not running for Prez
After experiencing that kind of freedom he has who would want to go back to measuring every statement to make sure it's 80% ambiguous and 20% confusing?

11. He has evolved, as have we.
Seriously....this issue had not feet, legs, or thighs 8 years ago. Those who wanted equal right were left out in the cold. Al Gore is a national treasure, and I will defend him forever.

12. It's official: He's not running for president.
Because if he were, he would never have said this.
