Rachel Maddow: "It's an insult to the Constitution... to not keep impeachment on the table." |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 11:17 PM by Hissyspit
Speaking with Keith Olbermann on Countdown concerning the report on the 935 lies told by Bush administration officials on the lead-up to the Iraq War: "It's an insult to the Constitution, if you think that high crimes and misdemeanors have been committed, to not keep impeachment on the table as the remedy to those things. If you don't, you're setting an evil precedent for future generations and future presidents that it is o.k. to get away with those things. I think we owe it to our kids and our grandkids to not take impeachment off the table." VIDEO HERE: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x87318

1. Might as well go looking for Judge Crater. |
|
Honest to god, bush isn't going to be impeached anymore. It's all over. They aren't going to do it. They don't have the votes. Revisiting this does nothing but lead to frustration.

5. They didn't have the votes to impeach Clinton either |
|
But they did it anyway, and "won" in 2000 with the same kind of bullheaded persistence that makes actual voting irrelevant.

12. Note that Olbermann sent Rachel off with a closing thought ... |
|
... to consider and discuss on a future appearance...
What about impeaching Bush/Cheney *after* they leave office, once it is no longer a political issue (Keith's words)?

Love Rachel Maddow... my radio stays on all day. I start the day with Thom Hartmann, then it shifts to Ed Shultz, then Rachel Madow, next Randi Rhodes and ends with Mike Malloy. I turn the radio off after Mike Malloy because after hearing him I am close to chucking the radio out the window... Basically Thom gives me direction, Ed makes me wonder, Rachel makes me giggle, Randi gives me hope and Mike pisses me off! They each go over the days news so by the time I reach Mike Malloy, there is little of importance that I have not gotten earlier...it's just that Mike arranges things in such a way that you want to go out and shoot something, preferably something republican.
I am for impeachment...it is for me the second most important issue. The Middle Class's taking back OUR government is the most important. bush and cheney and all who are calling themselves Neo Cons, (New Con Artists) are imo symptoms of a malaise of our own design. The bottom line of We The People is DEMOCRACY, the bottom line of corporatocracy is capitalism. As long as WE THE PEOPLE control the corporations, EVERYONE prospers, when we allow corporations control over our government their bottom line PROFIT trumps our bottom line DEMOCRACY. They will continue hitting us with bushs and cheneys and etc., not all of them will be republicans! I say again, they are just symptoms, remove a symptom and another will spring back, cure the disease and the symptoms will diminish and with luck disappear totally.

10. K&R. She said it perfectly... |
|
I certainly wish Edwards would speak up about this.
I admire Dennis so much. His work in this regard should gain traction, and he should be allowed in further debates!!!!!

11. Rachel is seriously kicking ass in her MSNBC appearances. |
|
She really makes all the other idgits they bring on (Richard Wolfe, Dana Milbank, Craig Crawford) look dim-witted.

15. It's as though there's no more accountability in the US govt. |
|
Meanwhile, many federal workers are under the new "National Security" Personnel System and won't be eligible for a raise unless their employer approves of their politics, religion, sexual preference, and skin color.
