Checks could be in taxpayers' mailboxes by June, according to an Associated Press report. http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/01/24/economic.stimulus/index.html

an article said not to expect them before summer at the earliest. Yeah, that's going to help consumers. Also, is this like Bush's last rebate - where we had to pay it back?

7. It's a "tax refund" payday-advance..off your 2008 taxes |
|
So..come April 2009, if you "would have had" a $1,000 refund due you, and you GET $1,200 this May or June...well you'll have to write a check to the IRS in April 2009 for the extra $200 they sent you..

8. heck, it's not even a real rebate - it's more like a LOAN, dammit, |
|
It's all a charade. BTW, if you get a sizeable tax refund each year, you're a CHUMP, giving the govt free use of YOUR money. Everyone should adjust his/her withholding so they come out pretty much even, with only a small refund or small amount due (OR, if you don't have cash flow problems, make it so that you owe THEM a fair amount (just enough to avoid a penalty) - that way you can make interest on the money in the meantime, rather than the other way around).
The IRS website has a VERY good Withholding Calculator on their website. You can make your withholding come out just right, and quit being a chump.
