State Supreme Court: Workers Who Used Prescribed Pot Can be Fired

The California Supreme Court has ruled against a Sacramento man who uses medical marijuana, saying employers can fire workers using pot, even if it's legally prescribed for them under the state's Compassionate Use Act.

The vote was 5-2 in favor of the employer.

At the center of the case was Gary Ross's claim that his 2001 firing was illegal. Ross, 45, was fired from his job at a network server center in Sacramento in 2001 just a week after being hired.

The employer, RagingWire, discovered Ross used marijuana to treat an old back injury. In a statement to News10, RagingWire defended the firing because Ross knew he could be called in to work at any time.

3. Don't forget to piss on William Randolph Hurst's grave too
He's the reason I don't refer to Cannabis as "Marijuana", a name he coined to make the herb sound ethnic and scary. Racist SOB.

Basically it says the Feds have control over private hiring standards now.

Psst, hey Arnold. We have video of you smoking a doob. Remember?
