The President and Foreign Policy
There are people like John Yoo, who worked for the White House, who believe the President should be allowed to do just about whatever he wants when it comes to foreign policy. I tend to disagree with that idea mainly because of the foundering fathers. If the founding fathers wanted the President to do whatever he wanted in terms of foreign policy why did they give the Congress the power to declare war. In addition, having an all powerful Presidents seems to go against what the founding fathers wanted. It seems, from what I know, the founding fathers wanted all of the branches to be kept in check so none could have too much power. It seems like the founding fathers wanted the President to be held in check by the Congress even on foreign policy issues. It just seems to be me having a President who can do whatever he wants in foreign policy issues goes against what the founding fathers wanted. What do other think?

1. Congress must ratify treaties and approve Ambassadors
not to mention approve the budget (for foreign aid, war, ....)

yes, Congress is supposed to hold the President in check
