Something About FISA and Immunity Mukasey Disclosed Yesterday

I watched and listened to General Makasey's testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday. It was painful. I did get something out of it though. Inadvertently, to be sure, the man told is a little more about why this immunity issue is so very important to those who illegally spy on us.

In small pieces here and there Makasey said that the question of immunity and cooperation without warrants had more to do with cooperation in technical matters than with wire taps of days past. Listen carefully to the testimony after he tried to hang the Committee up on using the word "wire" and limiting his discussion to only land line intercepts. That was quickly quashed but it got him talking and that is where you'll find the hints of what his main concern is.

It would appear (that means that this is my opinion) that the real concern of the NSA is that they be kept informed of new equipment or systems that the telecoms plan to use. NSA is not going out and spying on anyone anymore, they have the telecoms working with them giving the Government Spys up to date plans for their future changes in or expansion of facilities so that the NSA can fashion its own equipment for a fully integrated plug in. They need the Telecoms cooperation all the time so the two can grow together, that the NSA be intertwined in every facility and system in use. This isn't about tapping just a person's or a group's communications, its about the NSA being there from the beginning and until the end of every electronic communications not only for now but for all time to come.
