Bush lowest ever on AP Poll - so is Congress. |
|
Bush is at 30%. Congress is at 22%.
CBS poll has him at 27%.
This shaky economy is taking its toll. I thought it would. He is down about 2% from this time last month in most of the polls on Polling Report.
And only 28% of Republicans actually give him a good rating although about 61% still support him. Only 1 in 10 Democrats give him a good rating.
I'm interested to see if he is going to break the record for the president with the lowest rating for the longest period of time.

3. I wish when they did these stories, they would be sure to mention... |
|
the approval ratings for Dems in Congress and Reps in Congress, instead of just Congress as a whole. I realize that the Dem. approval rating would still be really low, but it would certainly be better than the GOP.

7. This article that is all over the internet this morning - even saw it |
|
on Drudge - said that it is like people simply can't stand to even see Bush or Congress any more - they are just sick of them.
One many said he was upset that Bush spent billions in Irag and our own economy needed help.
Finally - this stuff seems to be catching up with him. Took long enough.

2. I'm really surprised the figures are that high. |
|
I would expect Congress to be close to single digits right now, and Bush to be in the mid-teens. Cheney should be at 1 or 2.
Of course, we have to consider the source of the figures, they no doubt have padded them for their own self-serving interests.

9. Check the ownership of the newspapers involved. |
|
The corporate media in America is self serving.
General Electric owns MSNBC, etc., and provides a lot of things to the military, which is very lucrative for them. Why would they want the war to end? They're raking in a fortune because of it.

10. But this wasn't an MSNBC poll, or a CBS poll, or a newspaper poll. It was an AP poll. |
|
So, again, how is it in the best interests of a nonprofit co-op run by a bunch of newspapers and magazines with competing self-interests?
My point being, in the case of AP, it's much more difficult to accuse them of being more interested in a particular angle than in gathering raw data.

12. CBS was mentioned in the original post. |
|
The newspaper cooperatives that make up the AP have their own agendas and political interests.
I'll see if I can find an article I read some time back that tracked the ownership and political interests of the nation's newspapers. It was pretty revealing.

They're saying 1 in 10 Dems rate Shrub good? I can only imagin they had to look really hard to find a carefully selected 10 Dems and then stop looking!

13. This sort of analysis drives me bonkers. |
|
The way in which the media always references *'s & Congress's low approval ratings in the same sentence always seems absurd to me.
How the heck is the approval rating of one person even remotely comparable to the invariably mixed approval ratings of hundreds of people?
That bothers me about as much as when they speculate as to whether the economy or the war is of greater concern to voters. As if. . . those are unrelated issues. The war has looted our treasury, cost us trillions, left us in debt, in part caused the outrageous escalation of gasoline and heating oil, and by extension, raised the costs of goods and services so how pray tell are they separate issues?
Just saying.

15. And congress is terrified to risk its lofty 22 percent approval rating... |
|
... by taking a shot at impeaching a universally loathed vulture with an approval rating that hovers around 9 percent? Or his brainless marionette who only 28 percent of republicans give favorable marks to?
Does it occur to anyone in the House "leadership" that one really solid way to crank up that approval rating quickly would be to stand up to the bastards and do what was expected of them after the 2006 elections?
End the Iraq occupation and put the brakes on BushCo. That's why they were elected, and that's exactly what they haven't done. I'm surprised they've got 22 percent approval. I've seen them as low as 11 percent in some polls.
But maybe it's brilliance mistaken for inaction. Maybe they're embarked on a brand new, daring, revolutionary vote-getting strategy. Maybe they're going after the wimp demographic with a message of treachery and cowardice. Or maybe the dork/ dweeb vote with a message of sheer incompetence.
Now that would make some sense, unlike their current behavior which defies any conventional analysis.
Not enough time? Don't have the votes? Need to focus on important business? Don't rock the boat? We need a super majority?
Bullshit. Do the right thing anyway, for once in your miserable co-opted lives. That doesn't seem like too much to ask, but then again, we're dealing with some of the most unprincipled, self-interested, corporatized people on earth, so maybe that is too much to ask. Let's hope a couple of hundred of them find themselves looking for a job this winter.
