DU Hams and SWLers (are there still any around?): I'm back on the air. |
|
I finally got some wire in the air .. a 20-meter dipole. I'll be on 20-meters every morning this week (14.28 +/- .05 MHz), USB, around 15:00GMT. Until I get 220 VAC to my shack, I'll be limited to 100 watts.
Call-sign = DogStar (you will recognize it .. a K9___ call).

5. I'm a ham, but restricted to the local repeaters on an HT for now |
|
Maybe one day when I get my own dipole up (and a new rig), I'll hear your call.

3. Is KI4SYK (Ray), like, you know .. a Democrat? |
|
The reason I ask (and you don't have to answer) is that I'm planning to attend the Charlotte HamFest in a few weeks. Might run into him there.
Oh, how did I know his name was Ray? QRZ.COM.

He just went this past weekend to something in Charleston or the surrounding area. He started the Ham Club here and has done a lot in a short time with it. He is always looking for new Ham contacts.

7. Actually, we are in the trough of the eleven-year sun spot cycle. |
|
But its all uphill from here! I do love 10-meter PSK31/QRP (low-power). Japan, NZ, Australia .. all EZ! Sorry about that 11-meter band. Purify and digitize your output, and lose that "kicker." My guess is the "kicker" is an illegal linear amplifier. Right? How much? A kilowatt?

My brother is on 20 a lot. He is an Extra and I will PM his call sign to you. He's "one of us". If you hear him, give him a shout. He also loves to buy and sell gear.
He will be impressed that you live in Greenville, as we have a lot of family from there. I reckon you guys will talk for hours. ;-)
He also is very into high power, long distance VHF/UHF, if you play in those rarified climes.
