As if Katrina did not get enough of my trees |
|
Godawful storm a short while ago, heavy winds, hail, sightings of Tornadoes and two more trees downed in our back yard. And I think the neighbor has lost a few trees onto my property. Sometimes I just wanna cuss Mother Nature.

I cried when I lost my oaks after Charlie. We are under a tornado watch here in Orlando. Stay safe.

2. Stay safe BOSS! Sorry about the trees but at least the trees aren't on your house. |
|
So, here we are, at the beginning of another tornado season here in the South. Mother Nature is pretty harsh at times.

I didn't like where one of those trees was located, screwed up my mowing pattern. (are you listening mother nature, thank you, I love you.) If my wunderground map is correct we will have light rain for awhile. Beats the crap that went on between 2:45 to 3:15. Hope you are well. Our Snapdragons are downright (potentially) monstrous.

11. LOL! It'll be easier to mow and fewer leaves to rake too! |

I'm doing OK in general, however, I have a horrible cold and I'm very sick (sneezing, sniffling, constantly running nose, etc.) I must have used up an entire box of Kleenex, a bottle of hand sanitizer and a box of cold medicine so far...Oy! I've washed my hands so much they are raw. (I'm determined not to spread my germs.) I haven't had a cold like this in years and years. Oh well, at least it's not the flu.
My daffodils are ready to bloom and the hyacinths are peeking out from the mulch. I have a friend coming over to help me limb up my crape myrtle tree. It has grown as tall as my house and beyond the reach of my pruning saw. I've got to get the branches off of the house and out of the gutters. I had no idea the tree would get so big! I'm just having it limbed up and not "topped" or severely pruned. It sure is nice to have the cool shade that it provides in the blistering hot Georgia summer time!
I'm off to home to steam my nasal passages and take a big dose of night time cold medicine.
Be safe, take care and make sure that you have a tornado shelter spot picked out in your house.

15. You take care of yourself |

We got Puffs boxes with Vicks lotion scattered throughout the house. They are almost addictive. And I do like that Germ-X handcleaner. I got a big bottle in the garage and one in each vehicle. Very handy, no muss, no fuss. It kills 99.9% of germs. Damn that .1%.
I truly love our Crepe Myrtle along the driveway. so regal. I prune mine in January from the ground up to about six feet, just to keep them slick and neat. Mostly little limbs sprouting out that I prune off. They are about 16 feet high now. Our neighbor has a large one at the corner of his driveway and he doesn't prune it at all and it looks like a big pretty bush. We have Holly trees close to the house which may soon pose a problem. They are way above the gutter line now.
Gotta get out and scout around this AM. I have a bench in my backyard which belongs to my neighbor a street south of us and some of our pots are in the next door neighbors yard; part of the neighbors trampoline is in our frontyard. No telling what surprises await. And its 35 degrees this morning.
You take care of yourself My Dear. You are more important then pruning a tree.

It was really pretty darned nasty for about 15 minutes. I was watching the pines sway. And the noises one hears when a big storm like that is occurring. Nothing but light rain the rest of the night. Life is good.

10. you may be in for another problem |
|
we have tons of snow up here on the wisconsin and rock river basins in southern wisconsin and northern illinois. not sure about west of the river up here but it could be 20-30 year flood waters coming down from the north this spring. of course there`s the ohio and missouri river run off..
you can`t catch a break down there...

12. We have trees down, too. None on house, thank goodness! |
|
Just got power back on. The house across the highway from me was demolished...numerous other houses here with lots of damage. And a school lost a roof.
Glad y'all are ok.
