Poll question: POLL: What's the better investment of current energy - Impeachment or 2008 Election? |
|
No editorial, just your vote:
The energies of the active left/liberal/Democratic spectrum should be devoted to impeachment efforts.
OR
It's smarter to put work now into the 2008 candidates, whether or not they support impeachment.

1. kinda bogus question, as impeachment is largely about election 2008 strategy |

5. Not really - if you hade any candidates who were for impeachment you would be right. |
|
But the current candidates aren't raising the issue. They do not characterize the Bush regime's actions as criminal or unconstitutional, although this is clearly the case. They say the Bush policy is poor, or criticize the conduct of the policy.
Who among the candidates has taken a stand on impeachment? My impression is that some clearly oppose it, while none favor it.
So for now, candidates and impeachment campaign are two separate things.

10. candidates' positions on impeachment are particularly all about election strategy |
|
and in this case, at the moment, their strategy is not to stick their necks out. but if the party were to think about our collective strategy as a whole, then the party would be all over impeachment without forcing the candidates to do anything risky.
my point is just that the issues are intertwined, and one might come to the conclusion that the best way to focus all your energy on the 2008 election is to first focus all your energy on impeachment.

Impeachment and the president's criminal activity is a matter of law and MUST be addressed. The election of 2008 is going to come, one way or another, unless aforementioned criminal president pulls some shit because he was allowed to remain in office.
We can walk, vote, chew gum and impeach at the same time.

8. I don't see how anybody that calls their self a patriotic American |
|
could vote for anything but Impeachment. It's our duty as Americans to put things right again.
Bush is probably the first American President to be scorned, looked down upon and viewed with distrust and suspicion by the entire free world.
Think how the world use to look up to America as a bastion of truth. How sad for America right now and how humiliating for us.

16. Impeachment is a role of Congress |
|
I'm thinking we have enough energy and talent within the entire liberal world that we can impeach and still get our guys elected, even if it's not currently good strategy for them to come out in favor of impeachment.
The liberal world is strong enough and smart enough to accomplish both simultaneously. We don't need our presidential candidates to carry the water first.

18. Impeachment is everyone's business! I see two false assumptions... |
|
Congress? What are they going to do unless WE THE PEOPLE put the pressure on? Please.
1) "Getting our guys elected" is not the same as having the campaigns start in FEBRUARY 2007.
In fact, I submit that the perpetual campaign is a scam of the big media and the big money - to make sure that "our guys" never again get elected.
If you're working now for one of these candidates, you are helping the corporate and probably Republican agenda. Of course that's not what you mean to do, but the Obama/Clinton Circus with ALMOST TWO YEARS TO GO is intended to make sure only billionaires ever again decide who will be president.
Everyone will be very, very sick of the current candidates by 2008, and rightly so.
2) "It's not currently good strategy to support impeachment..." poppycock.
This isn't about some politician's strategy. This is about the precious final spark of a constitutional, democratic republic living in peace and freedom. You let the regime get away with what they've done, it will be irrelevant who "wins" in 2008.
Only those who vigorously call out the criminals deserve or have a chance to win.
Those who lead in toppling the criminal cabal will put themselves at the forefront.

19. Every stage of impeachment is worthwhile... |
|
It doesn't have to succeed to have positive effects:
- putting the focus on the Bush regime crimes
- make it clear that crime must not pay
- investigation and discovery - what will we discover?
FORCE YOUR LAWMAKERS TO TAKE A STAND ON THE REPUBLIC!
Do you think there's another way to repair the damage of a lawless tyranny?

17. My prediction is that if Bush is not impeached or made to resign |
|
the Democrats will lose the 2008 election. Democrats chose not to impeach Reagan in 1987 in order to help their chances in the 1988 election and lost anyway. In 1974, when Nixon faced certain impeachment and was forced tor esign the Democrats won the next election. If you let criminals skate past the law for political reasons the voters lose respect for you and you look weak and indecisive. It is time for the Democratic party to assert itself and bing the criminals to justice and never mind the 2008 election, it will take care of itself.

When enough Americans are screaming for impeachment there will come a tipping point, one which our leadership on BOTH sides of the aisle will be unable to ignore
WE THE PEOPLE ARE NOT GOING QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT. If you are not part of the solution THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM
We need MORE Polls like this.
