What Is Going On With The Behind-the-scenes FISA "Negotiations"? |
|
Somewhere in Washington people from the House, Senate, and the Whitehouse are coming up with a FISA revision that is acceptable to all. Even Conyers promised that one was coming. Will we be sold down the river? Will the Telecoms get immunity - will Bush go free?

One.. elections are coming up and Congress needs to make a few rebellious noises to make up for all the cave-ins.
Two.. they will cave as usual.

2. You mean the protect the bushes act? |

Yeah, I'm sure they will find a way to get their Pinochet style laws in before they leave office.
Hey, they can always get the dancing supremes to come up with a convoluted legal excuse to justify spying on Americans. Like - "It's says it's Okay Dokey in the Constitution". I think I'll try and sell that one to Roberts.

3. Maybe they will extend the law until 1/21/09 |
|
So the next time it comes up, we'll have a new (hopefully Dem) president and a new congress.
