I think we may be looking at another Carter administration if we win |
|
We're on the brink of recession, and by all indications this one is going to be a doozy. Whoever wins in November is going to be inheriting one hell of an economic mess, one that will only get worse in the next few years. We're going to be seeing energy costs skyrocketing and unemployment rising at rates not seen for years. To top it off, we're likely to be facing an increasingly hostile Iran. Deja vu, anyone? If Obama wins, he's already stated that he would seek to talk to countries that are "hostile" to us - a reasonable approach that even Nixon used with China. If there is another terrorist attack within the next four years, you know damned well that rethugs are going to jump all over that as vindication for their policies, a "told you so". Nevermind the fact that the last two WTC attacks in this country were eight years apart, or that a terrorist may simply want to test whoever the next President is, regardless of party affiliation.
A worsening economy, coupled with either increasing hostilities with Iran (or any other country) or a terrorist attack, and many people will simply blame whomever is in office at the time. They'll forget that the seeds for the next four years are presently being laid by this administration.
Hell, if I didn't know any better, I'd almost say that BushCo is deliberately sabotaging this country, setting the next administration for failure, so that they can return in '12 with another neocon to "save the day".

you should ignore those instincts that tell you to know better. they're lying to you just as BushCo has lied over and over and over again.

6. we need to be clear that when we say we want "change" we don't just mean |
|
an "un-Bush." we need leaders who will right this ship proactively.
it could be the next Carter Administration or it could be the next FDR Administration or it could be something else entirely...depending on the quality of the leadership.

7. I'm hoping for an FDR type of administration |
|
But something tells me the rethugs are going to do everything in their power to make sure that whoever our nominee is doesn't get shit done. Of course, then they'll turn around and proclaim how our president is a 'do-nothing' president while the country floundered.

11. Why "increasing hostilities with Iran"? |
|
The hostilities with Iran are initiated and directed by us. Why would the next administration continue this folly?
Yes there is always risk in winning the election. I'll settle for having that risk. Who better to manage recessions than a Democratic administration? Who would you rather were in charge for the next military crisis, another neocon? For all we know they fabricated not only the Iraq War - that is now accepted fact, but the preceding 'new pearl harbor' that set the stage for their little charade.
