Did LIEberman actually do it???
I just heard Wolf Blitzer on CNN say "Joe Lieberman, one-time Democrat, then Independent, now Republican, will talk about his candidate... blah blah blah"

Did the little shit actually formally change parties to Repug, or was Blitzer wrong (as usual?) Haven't been able to find anything on this anywhere else yet - headed back to Google...

1. Yeah, with Blitzer as the announcer, it's a tough call on whether or not it's accurate. nt

5. Yeah - and there's nothing about it anywhere else I can find.
So, while it would certainly not shock me, I'm questioning Blitzer's accuracy, if not his characterization.

3. It's been reported a few times that if the 2006 Senate election were held today in CT
Ned Lamont would defeat Lieberman by about 10 pts. Independents make the biggest change to Lamont.

4. As a CT resident who actively worked for Ned Lamont
I can tell you that he's despised in this household, and has been for a very long time.

13. Lieberman, my friend, Lieberman!
Guess my syntax wasn't as clear as it should have been!

6. I haven't seen it reported anywhere else...
...it's not beyond Wolf to say something that isn't true.

7. In some respects it would be good if he did, but I doubt it
He knows the Democrats are going to win both houses, and still wants to be on one of the committees, or have influence in the party

If our leadership had any leadership qualities, they wouldn't give him the time of day

12. That's a mighty big if!!
Leadership qualities? Ha!

LIEberman probably thinks he's hedging his bets - keeps the "I" designation to stay in the "good graces" of the Dems (oy!) but keeps the easy flip to R open as a way to get a role in the McCain misadministration. As always, it's all about Joe.

19. The last I heard about his registration was
late last fall, that he'd quietly re registered as a Democrat in order to claim super delegate status at the convention.

The party didn't buy it and told him to go pound sand.

I don't know if he's switched back to I or if he's gone R. I would imagine he's been told to keep it D so he'd embarrass the party when he appears at the GOP convention, this season's Zellout Miller.

20. The Democrats are GOING to win Congress, and the WhiteHouse
Because Lieberman already has stated his support for mccain, there is no way he should be allowed ANY favors

In fact there will be no excuses when the Democrats take over in 2008, and if they blow it this time, instead of doing the RIGHT thing, it will be time for a new party

8. Hey. Step away from the Television and walk away from Leslie.
You are going to hurt your brain listening to him.

9. I doubt it.
Lieberman wants to first pull a Zell Miller at the GOP convention. Then sometime after that he'll officially go to the dark side.

10. If he had, there would have been press conferences and big msm coverage...
and we'd have heard about it and discussed it plenty...

There's nothing about it on his Senate website. I think ol' Wolf is taking through his hat again...

16. I'm sure you're correct on that - and was wondering whether
Joe Lie-er was maybe choosing Wolf to make an announcement about it. Didn't think to check his Senate site -brain not engaged on a Friday afternoon - thanks for that!

15. Did Lieberman deny it?
Isn't Lieberman being interviewed by Wolfie right now? A politician would surely notice something like that and challenge it if he didn't agree.

18. It's looking like it was an exaggeration and misstatement by
Wolfe. I think I heard him say in the direct intro something more to the effect of..."now supporting a Republican for President." But that's definitely not what he said in the pre-show teaser.
