I don't think that will happen.
This Congress has cajones that require a microscope to see 'em.

2. Yeah, forcing the great ones to obey the law as if they were common citizens |
|
sets a very bad precedent.
Quick! Get in touch with Nancy Pelosi. This needs to be taken off the table.

then hopefully some week soon. I'm like you and like to stay optimistic that they'll nail him somehow.
That walking nightmare must have a lot of enemies and I'm beginning to believe they are biding their time until the president can't give him the get out of jail free card. Here's hoping!

6. He'll Be Pardoned Faster Than You Can Say Your Name...Or His |
|
As long as this regime has pardon power, they will use it. We saw it with Scooter and surely thsi regime will do the same for Rove or any high regime "official" (translation: criminal). While I would love for Congressman Conyers to drop Inherent Contempt on Rove, the best bet to get him in an Orange jump suit may have to wait until 1/20/09...in the meantime, the dossier fills up.

9. Even More Important... |
|
We have to be on our guard of this regime trying to pass some blanket amnesty or some other pardon that it will try to immunize itself once it's removed from power. That's why FISA is such a big deal...no compromise!!
Also, while we've got a lot of dirt on this regime, we still yet have any provable crimes...something that can be taken into a court of law...the stuff a defacto impeachment can be drawn from. Slowly, we're gettig closer to this smoking gun...and I agree, the goal for the Judiciary Committee and others is to continue to investigate and be prepared to go after these criminals.
The old saying "Justice Delayed" may have to apply here...but Justice is the ultimate bottom line.
Cheers...

Bush will issue a mass pardon to his entire cabinet and all senior White House staff for any crimes they may have committed (a la Ford for Nixon) and then sell it through Fox, CNN and elsewhere as preventing a partisan witch hunt.

It made me very unpopular around here when I pointed out this fact when people were so hyped on a quick impeachment. This regime has shown in the Libby case the extent they'll go to cover up their crimes and protect those who have committed them. If boooshie couldn't pardon Scooter, ya think he would have bit the bullet the way he did? Hell no, he'd be sitting in the grey bar hotel...now he's out making money in some right wing think tank.
He can't pardon those who haven't been indicted. And, yes, be assured the moment the GOOPs get their asses kicked we'll hear a call for "bi-partisanship" and how we should "move along". Senator Obama has said he will not capitulate to this game. My hopes are he brings in Senator Edwards to redo the Justice Department...it's gonna need a complete delousing and "de-Goddling" (get all the Liberty zombies out)...and then let the career prosecutors do their jobs...finally.
The big thing now is to keep a very close eye on this regime...and attempt to close any loopholes or backdoor immunity they'll try to push through...and they will.
Cheers...

12. it was amazing how quickly Bush changed his "no pardon" rule |
|
from until after the appeals process is done for everybody before Libby, to when he pardoned Libby.

15. Or How He Redefined "Executive Privilidge" |
|
The GOOPers couldn't scream that Bill Clinton was hiding behind it to hide his sex life, yet nary a peep these days at the over-reach and abuse of EP by this regime. It covers anything and everything this regime say it does...and why the upcoming court case is going to be very, very important. I see it in the similar vein as the Nixon tapes back in the Watergate days. If this interpretation is upheld, we're screwed.

when Nixon was president, we had a moderate to liberal supreme court... now, we have a very conservative supreme court. While Stevens, Ginsberg & Breyer are good justices, they aren't liberal icons like William Brennan & Thurgood Marshall, and Harry Blackmun (a Nixon appointee) was pretty liberal, if I recall... and I think Earl Warren was still on the court then, too, no?

11. WHEN he goes to jail, I will raise more than a toast. |

But I fear the rush suddenly on will lead to presidential pardons instead of real criminal proceedings and real punishment.
