Think you can't be blacklisted from the high seas? Meet the Morans
Complaining couple banned from cruise line
Think you can't be blacklisted from the high seas? Meet the Morans

Cleveland residents Brenda and Gerald Moran are experienced cruisers and big fans of Royal Caribbean. They were so happy with the cruise line they averaged two cruises a year for the past three years. They even bought the company’s stock.

Still, the Morans encountered problems on each cruise — everything from a plumbing problem to being locked out of their cabins — which they itemized and detailed in correspondence to the cruise line. Royal Caribbean worked with the couple to solve problems and offered discounts and onboard credits to keep the couple’s business.

Until it decided it no longer wanted the Morans’ business.

Some people will never be satisfied and live to cause inconveniences for merchants. I see frivolous dispute cases like this all the time in my work. So get a brain morans!

7. I know this couple
and every time they go to a restaurant they nitpick the whole meal. From beginning to end sniffing for a discount or a free dinner.

8. I wouldn't exactly call it "frivolous"
if sewage backed up into my vacation room. I would be expecting a full refund if they couldn't change rooms.

I think I'm generally pretty easy to please, but if you're happy on a cruise staying in a room with a rug saturated with sewage, you are way easier going than I am.

10. it's part of the "rustic" experience
;-) getting some of that local flavor in your cabin if your sailing to an impoverished third world country.
I'm sure some of their issues were legitimate but the history they built up demonstrated that RC was better off not servicing them anymore.

The most frivolous case I came across at work was someone disputing his $4,000.00 prostitute because she left in the middle of the night.

There was raw sewage in their room
It wasn't all trivial. Even the minor stuff should be discussed.

5. They're supposed to be a very good cruise line.
I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time, don't worry. Bon Voyage!!

6. I don't think you will...RC has a pretty good reputation.
There are budget lines that provide an inferior product, but RC is a pretty mainstream mid-priced cruise line. I've had friends that have sailed with them and they've related positive experiences.

4. RC is well within their rights.
They provide a service. If a single customer has complaints that need to be settled over 80% of the time, perhaps that customer would be happier using another service.
