Outpouring of Good Wishes For Ted Kennedy, With One Notably Disgusting Exception

By: Nicole Belle on Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 at 9:50 AM - PDT

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/05/21/outpouring-of-good-wishes-for-ted-kennedy-with-one-notably-disgusting-exception/

An emotional Sen. Robert Byrd pays tribute to Kennedy on the Senate floor.

The news that Kennedy has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor has brought forth a wellspring of good wishes for Kennedy. All three candidates made a point of sending good wishes to Kennedy in statements and speeches tonight, as have President Bush, Sen. John Kerry, Boston Mayor Tom Menino, Rep. Edward Markey, Rep. Barney Frank, Rep. Mike Capuano, Marty Meehan, Former Mass. Congressman, UMass Lowell Chancellor, Sen. Harry Reid, Majority Leader, Howard Dean, Democratic National Committee Chairman, U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, Sen. John Sununu, Mass. Rep. Sal DiMasi, Mass. Speaker of the House and State Sen. Therese Murray, Mass. Senate President.

Unfortunately, not everyone was as humane (or is it just human?) as Media Matters chronicles:

Following the announcement that Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) has been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, nationally syndicated radio host Michael Savage opened his May 20 show by interspersing audio of Kennedy singing “Ay Jalisco No Te Rajes” with clips of news reporters discussing Kennedy’s diagnosis and audio from the 1990 film Kindergarten Cop in which Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character says, “It’s not a tumor.” Later, Savage played the Dead Kennedys song “California Über Alles” after stating: “The poor guy’s been suffering for years, you know? Unfairly he’s been accused of alcoholism, but we see now that it was something much more deep-seated. And so, to cut this out in some respect for Ted Kennedy, here’s a tune coming at you from the Dead Kennedys. Go ahead and play it, please.”

Classy. I wonder if his advertising sponsors know about this one.

1. Well, you know, we here at DU have had some amazing moments.
The celebration in response to Ford's death was one of them.

Yeah, Savage is a dipshit and childish asshole. I'd like to send him and the DUers of the same ilk off to an island where they can all live in hate.

7. It seems that anyone with an (R) who dies is celebrated to those people.
No different then the opposition who celebrates anyone with a (D)

12. Regardless of which letter of the alphabet you apply to identifying political groups, parties
or persuasions, the bottom line at the end of the day is no matter how many justifiable creative ways you cut it, Hatred is Hatred and will always remain as such!.....Savage is filth period.

3. Talk about "Deep-Seated"
Mr. Savage has become his worst problem... time for a bit of psychotherapy and healthy prescription of meds.

4. His listeners love it.
His sponsors want his listeners.

Ergo, nothing changes, in fact Savage can probably charge more for commercial time now.

As long as there are racists and fools, there will be an audience for Savage. There's nothing like a white person talking about how the only way that Obama is doing so well is that all the blacks had been saving their money, waiting for this to occur. I had somebody tell me that with all seriousness, only 60 seconds after talking about how they won't do real work, etc.

Savage is going to be just fine. That is until the next, even more hateful person gets on the air. They've had complete control for years, and talked about how they had nothing. What happens when they fall out of control. They'll go nuts.

Something to consider...

Who was the biggest threat to the USA during the Clinton years? Internal militias and such, people who believed the Gov't was out to get them. Right, McVeigh?

Where did these people go upon Bush's election? They went mainstream, got radio shows and became good party members. If a Democrat takes the presidency, the militias will return, only more technologically savvy.

5. Savage has gotten away with far worse than this
and he will continue to get away with it because it's just this kind of infantile bullshit that his moronic fans enjoy.

I hope the day comes when the savage-weiner has a breakdown in the Watts section of LA, somebody would recognize his sour little face and happily rearrange it for him.

6. That was my immediate reaction. Terrible, but he's said so much worse
I don't think this was an Imus moment - more like a day in the life of Michael Savage - but recommending for greatest page.

10. Come on. Savage is a cartoon character.
That's how he gets away with stuff like this. That's why there's no outrage...he can claim to have an enormous audience,
but they're all so stupid and ineffectual that Savage can get away with saying anything. Like he's the head loony in the psycho
ward.
