Poll question: Do you think a Dem adminstration and Dem controlled Congress will help repair the country?
The question is intended to be a simple one. Will a federal government controlled top to bottom by the Democrats be able to restore some semblance of what we had before the criminals now in office took over?

The last good years we had were the Clinton years (No .... this is NOT a Clinton for President thread and don't even GO there. That would be off topic). Surplus and peace. While one can never really go back, one can return to a similar place.

Will our lives get markedly better in a tolerable amount of time with an all Democratic government ..... or are we fucked for generation just due to one bad 8 year cycle?

1. We're doomed there's nothing to be done
Hell why even support the Democrats at all - you may as well stay home on election day, and say goodbye to your loved ones. There's no hope, certainly not in the Democrats.

4. I don't believe you need to stand on a chair,
I saw a guy in Jamaica once, he was labeled The Rubber Man and he contorted him self on the beach in ways I never dreamed a human body could do, so I believe with practicing some stretching exercises, we won't need a chair.

but the Democratically controlled House and Senate have done nothing to stop Bush and have continued to enable him. They passed the Iran Freedom Support Act and have said nothing about holding this administration accountable.
We need to replace some of the Democratic fascists in our own party...

8. the Democratically controlled House and Senate? We don't have control of the Senate!
We have 51 but 60 is the minimum to have a majority.

We need to vote out the blueDogs (there's 40 of them) and the DINO's.

11. huh?
We have Democratic 'leaders' in charge of the House and Senate, they control the rules and what legislation is brought forth. Remember how when the Republicans had control, we could do nothing. Now we have control, and we can do nothing. It makes no sense.

16. You think you're right but
only in part. Either way, without a majority in the Senate, they can't get the
votes like we would have liked. There are Blue Dog DINO's voting with bush!

Nice touch with your condescending added definition. Way to make friends... not.

18. We all are... It's a Holiday Weekend and no gas to go anywhere or $$ to party !
You aren't alone. Why do you think so many are here and have been here since 2000?

For support, due to a lot of bad news and events.

So, start a thread in the LOUNGE and talk about what is bothering you.

10. I would like to believe the Dems will repair the country
It seems like it can't get any worse but I am afraid to say that. Bush is an idiot, his administration has destroyed this Country (as well as Iraq and Afghanistan), but the Democrats are not fighting it, they are enabling it. It is as if the 'opposition' has been planted or something. It is not normal for Bush to blatantly lie to the country, to congress, kill millions of innocent people, loot the nation openly...and have no response from Congress. It is called checks and balances for a reason, and we don't have it anymore. Sorry, I am feeling a little depressed and hopeless lately....there is something about that "Iran Freedom Support Act" that really scares me...

But I have no trust that this House of Representatives and this Senate and a Democratic president will do the right and necessary things the reverse the course of corporate control of the economic, agricultural and cultural systems of the planet, let alone the USA.

15. could they? yes
Yes

Will they?

remains to be seen.

To repair the country ythe Dems will have to take stands and do things that will make the right wing howl louder and longer than they have ever howled before. It will take an unflinching resolve to clean this mess up....

19. There might be some wins
at least in terms of pointing us back in the right direction on issues like health care and environment/energy and support for the poor. But I think the best we can hope for from the next four years would be small wins and setting things on the right path. Biggest win will hopefully be in the area of foreign policy and reputation/leadership in the world. Much of the domestic issues that I listed will have to move along at the local and state level, the good thing about Dem Fed control will be that the Fed gov't will finally get out of the way of those efforts.
