Holy Moly! It is storming like mad in my part of Arizona.......
It has been raining for the last 4 hours with huge winds. And it is freezing cold at 72 degrees. Any one else having a hell of a storm?

1. I know that cities N of Denver had a mile wide tornado
and California got rain and hail. Possibly part of one of those storms?

8. Windsor, Colorado
Edited on Thu May-22-08 06:29 PM by madamesilverspurs
got badly clobbered. Windsor is between Greeley and Fort Collins. Many homes had roof blown off, some buildings were flattened. Thing first touched down about 30 miles south of Windsor, near Platteville and Gilcrest, tornado and tennisball sized hail. Farm area, great crop damage along with damaged homes and downed powerlines. Power is out in Windsor, they're asking locals to refrain from using cell phones in order to keep those lines open for emergency workers. One fatality at a campground at extreme west Greeley. Other damage in far west Greeley at the regional offices of State Farm Insurance, looks like mostly broken windows in the building and cars tossed around in the parking lot. Governor is in Windsor, has declared a state of emergency. Shelters are set up for those displaced by the destruction. Best news of the event - a day care center in Windsor heard the alarm and moved all 130 kids to safety in a bank vault across the street, all kids are okay. Aerial shots of the town are dominating the Denver news channels.

6. Sure. It's been raining near Mt. Palomar (SoCal).
I love the rain! Just a light rain though, a bit cold, and slightly windy.

It was windy yesterday as well, but sunny. It's a welcome respite from the 4-day heat wave we just had.

7. Storms have been in and out all day here in NM
and we certainly needed the rain. Our 72 drops back into the 50s when the rain starts again and some of the storms have been loud, but it hasn't been that bad a day, all things considered.

Like I said, we needed the rain.

11. Tornado warning in So Cal.
In the San Bernardino/Riverside area. Thunderstorms, hail and flooding in Los Angeles county and in San Diego county. Fires up north, high surf and extreme rip current warnings.

Just started pouring here in Long Beach with the distant sounds of thunder.
