I was planning a trip to Montana when John Q Public posted asking what people were doing on primary night and mentioned he would be at a bar and grill in Missoula watching election returns, I responded I might be there too. John Q then invited me to join his group and watch with them. I figured this was a great chance to see if DUers are as great in person as they are outside of GDP :-) and you know what, we are. I had a great time and the Missoula folks are terrific.
Thanks John Q.

I wore nothing that ID'd me as a Clinton or Obama supporter, but it turned out that they were all Obama supporters, so I fit right in.

9. Well, I met my fellow DUers in 2004 and 2005, and we were just hoping for a win, |
|
which seemed inevitable. I was for Kucinich, though I got behind Kerry and voted for him, and my friends were for Dean, Kerry, Gephardt and Gen. Clark. It didn't matter to us. We just hoped to see a Democrat in the White House. It's tougher, this time around, but I still believe we have the same hopes... :-)

8. I've met five other DUers, so far, though I knew two of them before. |
|
And they were all I expected, the nicest and most informed people I've met in my life. And to think that I almost chickened out. I have never been sorry.

12. Sorry you had such a bad experience, meeting fellow DUers. |
|
I haven't, so far... I appreciate the company, since most people are not as informed as we are...

5. I'm Glad You Had A Good Experience! |
|
I know in my heart that there are many fine people here who I would genuinely enjoy and like in "real life," even those who've vexed me.
And others whose on-line personas range from seriously enhanced to 100% phony.
Of course, if anyone's talking about private meet-ups, all of the cautions about meeting strangers from the internet or sharing personal information should apply. Never be offended by that kind of prudence.
There are predators even here, peeps; so please, be careful.

10. wellstone dem is my first DUer met in the real world, too. A couple of people at the MSLA Obama |
|
office decided to put together an election returns watch party and posted it as an "event" on their myobama.com page.
So that's how I found out about it, and posted here about my plan to attend and watch Barack win a majority of the pledged delegates.
wellstone dem posted that she was thinking of maybe stopping by, and the rest is history.
Glad you could make it WD, it was fun meeting you and I learned a lot about MN politics.
A short time after you left, another local volunteer came by and they are planning a big bash at the Wilma Theater (old art deco theater downtown MSLA) for June 3rd, MT election night.
Here's the line-up * Bring an hors d'oeuvre to share * Beer and wine available to purchase * watch CNN returns on the BIG screen (I assume they mean the theater screen) * Music provided by Salsa Loca and Burning River * Special Guests... Missoula Mayor Jon Engen, Poet Sheryl Noeth, Quick Draw by local MSLA artist Dirk Lee, MC Glen Schmidt, and Mark Kersting on guitar.
Thank you to the Wilma for their generous support!
So there you have it! Missoula Obama Supporters putting the party back into the Democratic Party!
In the mean time I'm cavassing in the Bitterroot Vally tomorrow
and we are walking in the Corvallis Memorial Day Parade (since 1919) on Monday with the Ravalli Co Democrats. Our main goal is to severely outnumber the Clinton supporter contingent who will be marching with us as well. They are all good Democrats, even if they sadly have the misfortune of backing the also ran for President. :)
