GOP Campaign Reports Reveal More Mishandled Money, Widespread Wrongdoing
Campaign Reports Reveal More Mishandled Money
By Bart Jansen and Alex Knott, CQ Staff

As the FBI continues its investigation of six-figure losses at the National Republican Congressional Committee, new disclosure reports are shedding light on more widespread wrongdoing.

Christopher J. Ward was fired by the NRCC on Jan. 28 amid allegations of false accounting and possible fraud.

Officials described hundreds of thousands of dollars in unauthorized wire transfers to committees and accounts that he controlled, and a forensic audit showed the NRCC’s accounts were short $990,000 at the end of 2006 and $740,000 short at the end of 2007.

But the NRCC wasn’t Ward’s only financial management customer.

Committees controlled by Reps. Phil English , James T. Walsh , Vito J. Fossella , Jeb Hensarling , Charlie Dent and former Rep. Sue Kelly now have disclosed irregularities by filing amended campaign finance reports.

2. This imo is something the Democratic Party should be shouting about.

Why would you trust a republican to handle money? What they have done to their party is a microcosm of what they have done to the country.

Religious and racist Freepers will never vote for Obama but the fiscally-conservative crowd can be swayed. Keep showing them how the GOP wasted, lost, stole their tax dollars. Show how the GOP paid companies like Halliburton to feed contaminated food/water to the troops. Show how soldiers died while Bush/McCain and the cronies got rich.

10. just ran into a freeper and he was bashing Hil and saying he could
support Obama and told me that he was getting text messages that were racist in nature - but that he heard Obama speak and was impressed.

When I said that no one chooses what they are born to, he agreed and said that anyone who couldn't vote for Obama because of race was "stupid"

the freepers are not going to go blinding this time (jmho)

6. The NRCC should know better than to hire one of its own to handle money.

9. "Widespread Wrongdoing" is prominently featured in their recruitment literature.
You'd think that would be a tipoff right there.
