19. Let It Run Its Course...

I all but timed the "outrage" here and then the responses.

I haven't gotten into the Pooh-flinging, but was offended by Senator Clinton's remarks...and the pattern she's shown in trying to keep her campaign going at all costs...moving goal posts, playing wedge politics and now using whisper campaigns and buzzwords. Shameful and I can see the outrage by Obama supporters.

Then almost like clock work, in came the Clinton supporters to try to stop the damage or whatever they hoped to accomplish. I'm still not sure what it is. And, honestly, I couldn't care less. Her campaign is over for most of us...I've long focused on November and remain that way. However, her invoking RFK's assasination as justification to keep an active campaign going is showing real desparation...not hoping to win on the merits, but on the possible misfortunes of Senator Obama and the Democratic party in general.

That said...emotions are running high and raw around here and I am against shutting down anything or anyone. Many of us can tell a troll or a shill and there are aspects of this story that go beyond just the primaries...into the media and political culture.

But as is always the case in the short attention span theater known as DU, this, too shall pass.

Go and enjoy a nice day in the sun...life is still a fascinating place when you take most the people out of it.

21. Good advice KharmaTrain... and I took it.

I went and had a long and lovely walk with my Jindo today in the park
and along the LA river... it was exactly what my soul needed.

Speaking of "culture," I believe ours is the sickest on the planet
and every time I brave the world (leave my house) to visit our beautiful Griffith Park with my fur friend,
I become increasingly convinced that it is time to leave this country.

22. Good On Ya...

I've been around these environs for a long time and have always learned two things...

1.) Nobody really cares...it's fun to vent and bitch, but in the long run, DU is like the internet water cooler...the solutions in life still remain where they always have been...in the grassroots and with one-on-one contact. As Tip O'Neill so astutely said, "All politics is local".

2.) Taking things too seriously around here says you need to take a break. It's easy to sit behind the keyboard and type things you wouldn't dare say in face-to-face. The "send" button becomes a bullet...and discussions become arguments that become pissing matches that neither side wins. That's a reason I stayed out of GD-Pit...I prefer to discuss...agree to disagree and we all grow and learn.

I love Griffith Park...or going out to Santa Monica Pier. I took the movie walk...the old theaters along Broadway...a great time. While I'm in Chicago, LA is still a second home.

This is a beautiful country and there are many good people...my grandparents came here a century ago fleeing from the progroms and authoritarianism of Czarist Russia (imagine being drafter for 10 years like my grandfather faced)...and I always think of them and my parents (depression kids) who saw this country as the last great hope of the world. I can't give up yet.

I've always enjoyed your comments and discussions...glad you got away and now hope you're ready to join me in kicking some GOOP ass.
