Reporters are admitting ON AIR that they were pressured in 2003
Edited on Wed May-28-08 09:29 PM by lynyrd_skynyrd
I just saw Jessica Yellin, on CNN, right now admit live on air that corporate executives pressured her to put out positive, "patriotic" stories during the run up to the Iraq war. It was during a discussion of McClellan's book where he wrote about how the so called "liberal media" didn't live up to its name.

I WISH I WAS RECORDING IT.

Please let someone put it up on YouTube.

Tune in now, they're still talking about it. This is actually quite huge.

EDIT:
West coast viewers, do they not repeat this three hours from now? Anybody have TIVO? Somebody catch this!

5. I wrote on an earlier thread that we would have media tell alls
when journalists/reporters start calling out the producers and executives. This is a start but never forget that most of them went along with it for the so called good life. Next we must hear about the Pentagon hacks.

6. Looks like we might see some more admissions of negligence and guilt
coming out after this book by the press.

7. saw that, and as someone else here said, WHY did she not make
THAT pressure THE story of the B*** administration? why didn't ONE SINGLE major media figure talk about that? not ONE. you all remember what came out during the Libby trial WRT Tim Russert/NBC being the reliable outlet for Cheney etal to catapult their propaganda.....

and they sure talked to no end about WH pressure during the Clinton presidency

remember Howie Kurtz's BOOK on the subject: Spin Cycle?

11. Every now and then the cover is peeled back
and we get a glimpse of the hideous truth underneath.

I remember when Sen. Bob Packwood resigned in 1995, there was one day--one day--where numerous women spoke out about having been sexually harassed by Senators and Congressmen. It was a great collective purging of angst, pain, and anger, an impromptu national truth-telling commission. Anybody else remember that? It was quite powerful.

Of course, that was different, since Packwood was supposed to be a good guy because of his pro-choice stance, and McLellan as press secretary was a bad guy from the progressive point of view, and now is a good guy (sort of) because of his book critical of the current Bush criminal enterprise.

But this is a cover-peeled-back kind of day, isn't it?

12. K & R
Cuz when I was watching TV today the media was falling all over themselves (I'm looking at you, David Gregory) to exonerate themselves.

14. The Blame Game Really Begins
I wasn't expecting this until later, but I'll take it now. We're starting to see a real shift in the corporate media dynamic...behind that of the rest of the country, but better late than ever. The repugnicans see the writing on the wall...an electoral disaster of massive proportions and the knives are starting to come out as to who is to blame. Snotty fired the first real shot that is sure to be met with others in the near future...each attempting to "set the record straight" and also get a piece of flesh. Apologists need not apply, the "tell-all" is about to get a real recharge...all in the name of CYA and distancing themselves from the upcoming disasters. Also, in Snotty case, it's to dig holes for those who screwed him over.

The corporate media has been unmasked this year for both their shoddy work and ass-kissing that has hurt their credibility. Blogs and other alternative media have exposed the ineptitude of the beltway scribes and Snotty all but blindsides them by saying the same thing. Add this to the Pentagon pundits for hire mess, the criticism they've taken during the primaries and the waning power of this regime and they're shell-shocked. Change is at hand and the "cone of silence" that kept this regime's dirty secrets off the teevee is starting to breakdown. The mediatypes are starting to realize the booosh days are coming to an end and with it they no longer need to suck up...and starting to come clean.

To those "journalists" who are coming out now to say how they were "duped"...I have two words to say and it's not "good job". Blow me would be a starter.

16. Fox reminded me of the newsreel on Starship Troopers
on the buildup to the war, it was so surreal and sickening, I hated all the plastic media personalities pretending how the war would be easy, and they were having so much fun with it.
Now they are writing their mea culpas but they cannot rewrite history, they are on film.
