"Barack Obama is the most liberal senator" |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 05:06 AM by Oregone
First off, I don't think this is true, at all.
Second off, I wish it were.....
But that aside, this is an idea that scares the heck out of some people (that's why people say this on the right). Last I checked, "liberal" is still a bad word in the media. Anyway, I just got an email (supposedly) from Michael Moore containing this:
McCain is right about one thing: Barack Obama is the most liberal senator in the United States Senate. More liberal than Ted Kennedy. When was the last time you had a chance to send the MOST liberal senator to the White House? Trust me, it won't happen again in our lifetime.
1) is this a fake mass email?
2) if not, is this a good approach Moore is taking? I mean, if it is an attempt to fire up the base (who is already fired-up), doesn't it also have some negative implication.
At this point, a mass-email isn't going to alter the fact that McCain is going to have his ass handed to him. But as a general practice, smart email?
(BTW, I fully feel that the word "liberal" needs to be reclaimed and proudly used. But sometimes, timing is everything, and maybe Nov 5th is a good time to start?!?).

2. That is nowhere near the worst thing |

they are saying about him. If "librul" scares them, they are not going to come near no matter what. I assume if it is MM, he has a closed email list.

4. Anybody can sign up; you can bet Obama enemies will spread this around. |
|
I think it was a mistake for Moore to put this into print especially so close to the election.

|
On the other-hand, thats all mud slinging and conjecture from people that hate him. This here its being used as a complement by someone who endorses him. Yeah, maybe its all the same though, and if someone scares easy, they are already gone.
Yeah, its better than the other emails about him liking kitten stew for lunch. :)

I think it is important for people to be realistic, and continue to fight (even if against him). He needs to be influenced, just as FDR was, to move from the center.

Ayone who believes he is the most liberal must be living in a world where there is no Bernie Sanders, Russ Feingold, Sherrard Brown, etc.
He's not the most liberal, hell he's not even close.
He's light years better than mcbush and that's what counts

The Promised Land ...a message from Michael Moore
Monday, November 3rd, 2008
Friends,
Tomorrow.
All of us.
You, me, and everyone we know.
Eight years is enough. Eight weeks was enough.
We have a chance to redeem this country, to prove we're better than this, that which Bush has made of us.
McCain is right about one thing: Barack Obama is the most liberal senator in the United States Senate. More liberal than Ted Kennedy. When was the last time you had a chance to send the MOST liberal senator to the White House? Trust me, it won't happen again in our lifetime.
Every vote is critical -- even in hard red states like Texas and Alabama; and true blue ones like New York, California and Michigan. Tomorrow, we need to create a massive popular vote that will give Obama a stunning mandate to return this country to we, the people. Let's write one for the history books and rocket Obama into the White House.
Expect trouble tomorrow. Stand your ground. Don't let some clerk turn you away. Make noise. Call the media if they won't let you vote. Let the Obama camp know. Check out his Voter Protection Center. Know where your polling place is. Be careful inside the voting booth. The ballot still reads like a Sudoku puzzle. Be prepared for long lines. That's ok, you know how to bring the party with you! Make new friends. Plot your local revolution. The 28-year rule of Republicans (and Democrats who act like Republicans) is over. The Reagan Era dies tomorrow night. My God, I truly thought it would never end.
There are over a million of you on my list. Each of you know 5 or 10 people who may not vote. Offer to drive them to the polls. If they live across the country, call them and tell them how much it means to you that they go vote for Obama. Take your co-workers to lunch -- and to vote. Be creative. Come up with ways to convince the undecided to get their decided on and go vote. Make it fun. Lead the horse to water.
60 seats in the Senate!
30-seat increase in the House!
President Obama!
It's in your hands. The Promised Land.
Yours, Michael Moore MichaelMoore.com MMFlint@aol.com

Al Gore was the "most liberal senator ever". "In history" John Kerry was the "Most liberal senator ever" "Even to the left of Ted Kennedy". Barack Obama is the "most liberal senator ever". "More liberal than Ted Kennedy". I wonder what they'll call the Democratic candidate in 2012? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,125048,00.htmlhttp://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

10. Most liberal...Uhhhhh yeah...It's fake |
|
More liberal than Bernie Sanders (Proclaimed Socialist-VT)?
How about Russ Feingold? Edward Kennedy? Sherrard Brown?
It's BS
I put out a post during the primaries from Conservative Business Groups that rated him (Obama) somewhere between 25th and 33rd most liberal.
If Sen Nelson (D-NE) was running, they'd be telling us he was the most liberal liberal Senator is the history of mankind.

I vaguely remember them saying this about John Kerry also. So now Obama's the new most liberal Senator. More liberal than Teddy. With each new candidate, the formers become less liberal. Pretty soon Ted Kennedy won't even be liberal any more...

And laughed at when the right says it. I just thought it was strange to see it coming from someone on the left who has endorsed him and is an activist

19. I realize that. The difference is this was in an email from someone endrosing Obama: Michael Moore |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 07:11 AM by Oregone
I was wondering if it was a real email and how everyone felt about Moore doing it if so. This whole thing seems a bit strange.
Clearly most people here know this is incredibly untrue on its face (that he is that liberal).

20. Well, your closing point is the MAIN one, Oregone. |
|
The problem is "liberal" should've been defended to the rafters long time ago, and it was, by default, allowed to be turned into a nasty four-letter word by some of the biggest circus clown jackasses imaginable (Morton Downey, Wally George, Rush Limbaugh, Lee Atwater, etc.).
They tried doing the same thing with "community organizer" but I think that fell flat once the great examples were brought out as counterpoint (MLK, Jesus, Gandhi, etc.). The same thing should've been done with "liberal" ("Jesus was a liberal," that sorta thing).
