Someone Certainly Thinks Obama Will Win - Look at the DOW |
|
Up almost 300 points and we haven't even heard the first of the exit poll results yet (will begin to release at 5:00).
Just think about what it will do tomorrow. The Market likes a sane world.

1. Sheesh, you're right. One of my stocks went up 18% today. |

Finally made some of it back.
Nice.
I usually watch the markets closely but today I've been totally fixated on the election coverage.

2. Actually, I have a different interpretation. |
|
And that is that investors are expecting that the Democrats will fail to get 60 Senate seats and a filibuster-proof majority. Wall Street is probably terrified of Democrats having the WH as well as the Congress.
I think an Obama win has been "priced into" the market for several weeks now.
I think that if the Dems somehow get to 60 today, the market will tank tomorrow and for several weeks following.

4. I pretty much disagree |

I am an invester as are hundreds of thousands of people throughout America and I have never been to Wall Street. I suspect after a huge Democratic win stocks will soar and soar. Just not maybe in the same areas that did well the last eight years...

5. Well, I've been to Wall Street, and I've worked among institutional investors... |

and a whole range of professionals in the investments business.
I know how these people think and I can tell you that they are by and large republican and conservative. They hate regulation and they hate taxes. Unless and until Obama demonstrates to these people that his policies will somehow be pro-business (as Clinton did), any market strength will be due to developments other than his rise to power, and the Democrats hold on congress.
