3rd party candidates killing the Dems in Minnesota |
Besides siphoning votes from Franken, they appear to hurting both Madia in the 3rd District and Tink in the 6th (that would be Bachmann's district).

2. I know, and it's really pissing me off. Bachmann should have gone |
down easily, and probably would have otherwise; Madia was down quite a bit last time I looked, and Franken and Norm the Asshat are too close for comfort.

3. Problem is Minnesota never passed a law requiring a run-off if nobody got 50%+1 vote. |
The result is you can win with only a simple plurality, even if that plurality is WELL below the 50 percent threshold.
For example, Jesse Ventura won the governorship with just 38 percent of the vote. That meant the other 62 percent of the electorate essentially voted against him but lost according to the rules.

4. Barkley is definitely siphoning votes from Franken. |
He is a more seasoned politician, and it really showed in the debates. Franken may still pull it off.
