Mine is abortion.. I will NEVER and yes I know you are never suppose to say never but I am saying.. I would never vote for one who wants to outlaw abortion... I am a rape survivor who had to have an abortion.. so I will NEVER vote for someone who would take that choice away from another victim... or someone who would have to have some kind of "proof" of a rape or incest or anything... How dare them tell me what I can and can not do to my health.. mentally and physically ...so what is your one issue?
that you just wont back down from for or against

1. That would be my #1 issue too
I will not be told a fetus is more valuable and has greater rights than I have. I will not have my uterus become property of the state.

2. Interesting question... as for your abortion perspective
that is EXACTLY why we have to be pro-choice, no proof required!

That is one of the most clearcut issues for me. Environmental issues are huge for me, but those always end up being a compromise.

3. Mine would be equal rights. There's been way too much blood
shed over this issue and I believe everyone should be equal under the law.

That.
Plus it is a very reliable measure of the candidates view of what constitutes Freedom.

5. Human rights of all kinds are my issue.
I would never vote for somebody trying to take away human rights. That includes the right of women to decide whether or not to remain pregnant. It also includes the rights of gay people to be treated as equals under the Constitution. Also, the rights of human beings not to be tortured or imprisoned without due process.

6. I would never support the death penalty
Ever. I am simply opposed to it on moral grounds: the state has no business taking a life in cold blood. And it does not prevent crime. And it is misused. And often mistake it.I just oppose it. Murder is a natural human instinct, but the state is not a human being with all the attendant emotional baggage; the state is an institution that should dispense justice with cool impartiality.

I recently got called for jury duty and had to go to voir dire. When they announced the case was a trial for murder in the first degree I knew I couldn't sit on the jury--until they told us it was not a death-penalty case. Uh oh, I had no excuse, but was tremendously relieved that the jury was filled before I got called up.

Of course, I would never support the outlaw of abortion, either.

12. Human Rights should never be up for a vote.
Inalienable human rights should never be up for a vote. Those include reproductive rights, a woman's right to choice, the right of all people to marry, due process rights, etc. I will never vote for or fail to actively oppose those who would deny any human right. That is where I will draw the line in the sand (or on the concrete, floor, rug, whatever) and fight. My first weapons with be words money, and ballots. But as Thomas Jefferson said, "When in the course of human events........"

14. abortion
I had one while I was trying to get out of an abusive relationship. I would have killed myself if I had to carry the pregnancy to term.
