*IF* "former comedian Al Franken" ... *THEN* former bug killer Tom Delay ... and former ..... |
|
.... beauty pageant bimbo Sarah Palin and former aerobics bunny Mary Bono, and ........
How about former practicing attorney and former health care executive and former Princeton and Harvard student Michelle Obama ...... ?
I hate these simplistic labels they slap on people.

3. What's Wrong With Being a "Former Comedian"? |
|
Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see anything really wrong with being identified as a "former comedian".
Many people remember Al Franken as the guy who was really really funny on SNL several years ago.
Would you rather Al Franken be called a "current comedian"??

12. Some Comedians who would have made good Senators...... |
|
Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 05:16 PM by slampoet
Alan King
George Carlin
Groucho
Barry Crimmins (who writes for Randy Rhodes now)
Will Rodgers
Garrison Keilor
Lewis Black
Larry Miller
Chris Rock
Paula Poundstone
Robert Wuhl
A lot of people might say Janeane Garafalo but she doesn't have that work well with others vibe. Maybe a rep.
But it isn't all that easy to think of Comedians who are Consistently political, dependable, and get along well with others. Larry Miller doesn't do that much political stuff but he's on the list 'cause he looks like a senator.

4. Well Franklin was actually known as a comedian. |
|
I see this as no different than former actor Ronald Reagan or Former Governor Bill Clinton.

5. "Former Governor" Bill Clinton???? |
|
I think I would object if someone were to refer to Bill Clinton as "Former Governor" Bill Clinton.
I believe Bill Clinton is a former PRESIDENT.

Well, actually, Bill Clinton WAS Governor Bill Clinton when he ran for President in 1992. (He was Governor of Arkansas at the time.)
And, of course, he was President Bill Clinton when he ran for re-election in 1996.

7. Franken has written books. Why not "Author Al Franken"? |
|
I believe he wrote more comedy than that in which he was featured, why not "Writer Al Franken"?

11. Were the books um funny... was he a comedy writer? |
|
He has no previous government experience. He is a world famous comic. Yet you find Comedian Al Franklin objectionable?
