WTF?? Olberman doesn't vote?
<snip>
"I was reading that you don't vote," Behar stated. "Did you really mean that, and did you vote this time?"

"I don't vote," Olbermann confirmed. "It's the only thing I can do that suggests, even, that I don't have a horse in the race."

"Then how can you be angry and have a platform if you don't vote?" asked Sherri Shepherd.

"It's a symbolic gesture," Olbermann explained.

"It's a bad role model, I'm sorry" commented Behar tartly.

It's not like he has it broadcast in Times Square? I like him, but I don't understand this.

If he doesn't have a "horse in the race".

3. I watched this, was very disappointed, surprised and even think on some level he
is being pompous. That said, this is His Choice and His Right.

4. Must be a pretty lazy guy.
He figured NY was in the bag and made up a silly excuse not to vote.

6. I lost about 80% respect for him today.
If you dont' vote, you are mute. It's not making a statement. You are fucking MUTE and nobody gives a shit.

7. It's a gesture of non partisanship perhaps.
Lord knows he's contributed to the progressive cause in ways far beyond what most of us can do.

With the massive irregularities in voting coupled with the fact that NYC is deeply blue, it's no biggie really.

9. Seems like I remember Johnny Carson saying the same thing.

He had guests of all political persuasions and didn't want to be thought of as biased.

10. I know Jim Lehrer didn't use to vote either...
but at least he is supposed to be a neutral reporter - Olbermann is blatantly a (D), so why bother?

12. I get it.
He doesn't have a horse in the race.

Neither did I, but I felt I had to vote
for Obama just because the alternative
was so intolerable and unconscionable.

14. It's been fairly common in the past for journalists not to vote.
I don't find this surprising at all, and it definitely doesn't make me respect him any less.

Of course, this won't help to calm the not-voting = beating-old-ladies-with-a-sack-of-puppies crowd. And who really gives a shit what the hosts of some banal daytime talk show think anyway?

15. Who fucking cares if he votes or not?
Sean Hannity votes. If you care, switch it to Fox, wave a flag, enlist in the army, sing your patriotic hymns, and proclaim this channel as worthy to have "free" speech.

17. I understand his motivation but...
I think he's being silly. He doesn't have to tell anyone who he votes for. If no one knows, that's the same as not voting at all for his purposes.

And, er, he wants to appear unbiased by not voting? Keith, your show is biased as hell. It couldn't be more obvious which side of ideological divide you're on.

I'd prefer that he not vote and keep influencing the politics of this country.

19. Same as Jim Lehrer, the fellow from PBS who moderates debates
Edited on Mon Nov-10-08 04:53 PM by WilliamPitt
He's not voted since joining the press

Avoiding the possibility of seeming biased. I think it's good.
