Al Franken needs volunteers to observe the recount
"Be A Volunteer Observer: These volunteers will be trained to observe the counting, identify ballots in question, and articulate the basis for the challenge. We need people who can attend a training this coming weekend, stand on their feet for hours at a time, and volunteer for multiple days or weeks throughout the recount process. Please go to www.alfranken.com/recounthelp right now to volunteer."

-Stephanie Schriock
Campaign Manager
Al Franken for Senate
(from an email received November 11, 2008)

1. I signed up!
Does anyone know what time the training is? It's my BFF's birthday Saturday, but that's in the afternoon.

I have Tuesday and Wednesdays off during the week so that is usually a plus in situations like these.

8. I wish I lived in MN
or even close so I could volunteer.

I did contribute to Franken's recount effort though.

Thanks to those of you who do volunteer. It's important.

11. They're also looking for free housing
http://www.alfranken.com/page/s/recountHousing

(from the same email)

I read that Norm Coleman will have "120 lawyers" to cover every recount facility...will they be staying with supporters? Probably not (oh, wait, unless it's Norm's DC landlord).

Just wanted to follow up on this part of their request too...and thanks to all who made donations!

14. So, has Franken changed his mind about Election Fraud?

If he's asking that much of volunteers, he owes an acknowledgement of his previous ignorance, and an apology to people who he snubbed when they tried to talk to him about this important threat to our Democracy.

This really is poetic justice.
