"We need to move on" argument |
|
Would such an argument be accepted for the Catholic Church pedophile scandal? "It's in the past. Why don't you let it go? Bringing that up now only hurts the image of the Church when so much good is being done for the poor."
Hopefully, everyone would find such an argument outrageous. Likewise, the criminality of the Bush years is not something that can be chalked up to overreaction and good faith motives. I would guess it's no accident that Bush administration officials kept claiming that their conduct would be vindicated by history. Such an attitude demonstrates a sociopathic disregard for people who are dead and maimed for life.
One would hope there were no backroom deals between the two parties. It's difficult not to suspect that such a meeting has taken place.

1. Clearly.. Bush and Cheney need to go to Prison for Abu Garib..... |
|
..but will they? Harry Reid is afraid of a warm cup of tea. Nancy Pelosi is too busy with her hands in the real estate pie.
According to the MSM (main stream media) what's wrong with torture?

2. I am completely against 'moving on'. I think everyone involved, and every enabler |

should be tried and if convicted made an example. HOWEVER, I am strongly against any shortsighted actions like setting a new and dangerous precedent of the incoming President prosecuting the former President. I feel things should be done in a legal manner within existing frameworks. We need to avoid the appearance of a politically motivated prosecution as well as setting ourselves up for future retributive prosecutions. It should have happened already, IMHO, but time is on our side.
