If the horror in Mumbai can be linked in any way to Pakistan, |
|
say bye-bye South Asia. They both have tons of nukes and may be mad enough to use them!

5. Fortunately, the trouble in Georgia already triggered WWIII, destroying all society. |
|
But that was OK, since the U.S. invasion of Iran had already triggered WWIII, destroying all society.
And that destruction of society was redundant, since society had already been destroyed during WWIII, which was triggered when angry Serbs commandeered the U.S. embassy after the decision to recognize Kosovo.

7. Nonsense. There are Al Qaeda in Pakistan, and AQ is a likely perp. |
|
Who benefits? Not Pakistan, but those who want instability in Pakistan.
There will be some Pakistani connection, because AQ operates in Pakistan.

15. From a strictly logical standpoint, there have to be Islamic extremists who loathe the USA. |
|
Whether the legions of such persons are connected to the CIA in any way is not something I'm prepared to discuss. With or without such involvement, the Islamic extremists are real, and their intent is malevolent.

8. Your political imagination is sadistic, and racist. |
|
You are callously referring to the end of an entire part of the world.
And my posts are getting removed?
God forbid someone's armchair Tom Clancy / Security Analysis feathers get flustered.

12. o.k. but isn't a little offensive that people callously dream about nuclear war |
|
the republicans have been using the threat of 'brown people with nukes' as justifications for outrageous policies here and abroad for how long now?

11. I'd rather it was linked to outsourcing myself |

I don't need WW3 but would love for US corporations to be scared out of their shorts about having operations in India and other volatile countries.

16. Some of us Americans who are against outsourcing have roots in that country |

perhaps you can channel some compassion for those who were killed not turn it in to a political statement? My engineering job was outsourced a few years ago, it was a double whammy, in that my job was taken away by the land of my ancestors.
So I feel the pain but I also spent the day worrying about people I knew who were in harms way.
This was a horrible terrorist attack on human beings, not nationalities or people who "stole our jobs", and shouldn't be looked upon as a wedge issue.
Or least I hope those with a heart would understand the difference. The world is dangerous, the US is no exception. We have our own volatility.
But at the end of the day, regardless of where we are born, our skin color, the language we speak, the gods we worship or don't, we are all linked by one commonality. We are human beings.
And today, and every time I witness cruelty, I wonder why we do these things to the defenseless.

Just the first 30 seconds will be sufficient. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdtXZ3WwGrkA translation ... (in "hidden" white text!) Beytsim: (bates-seem) testicles. When someone gets too wistful, sentimental and/or regretful imaging how things could be/have been "if only...", a frustrated listener might interject a dose of reality with: "As di bubbe volt gehat beytsim volt zi gevain mayn zaidah." (i.e. "If my grandmother had balls, she'd be my grandfather.") It's the more sarcastic equivalent of the English expression "...and if I had wings, I would fly." (A less "blue" version is "If my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a trolley car.") w w w.bubbygram.com/yiddishglossary.htm

18. I regret the cavalier way in which I posted this. |
|
However, I made wasn't implying anything racist. I don't like trust anybody with nuclear capabilities. That includes the USA. If you have kept up with the way some nuclear missles have been handled in the US, it is scarey. Who is in charge?
I didn't post any remark about the Georgia/Russia conflict because the capability and amount is not there. If both sides were armed to the teeth with nukes, it would have been the same situation in ways. People who hate each other don't always think of consequences. You made a huge leap to my assumption of "brown people" being the problem.
As far as people realizing the consequences of nuclear attack, I believe a lot of people just imagine a much larger explosion. I'm not sure anybody realizes anymore what can happen except maybe for some people in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. I think I can imagine, but the devices are so much more lethal that I'm sure I don't. That doesn't even take into account neutron bombs or whatever else has been developed.
The Pakistani government may have no idea, but it is a good way to start a conflict by having anything appear to originate from there. The region has been in conflict over Kashmir for years. Pakistan is not stable right now, and who knows what is going on.
I am not wishing it will happen. I am a pessimist, and I don't trust the idea that cool heads are in charge. That goes for the US too.

19. It may well be linked to a terrorist group that is cultivated by the ISI. |
|
That has little to do with the Pakistani nuke capability, though.
And, I feel the same way you do about nukes. It's just that this group is nowhere near accessing them. They're just one of the groups the ISI uses as pawns, as they do the Taliban and to an extent, "al Qaida".
